My daughter is in her final year at Falmouth University studying Illustration. She has produced some work for an exhibition and she needs to be in the top 50 of votes to be accepted [no money or other prizes at stake here].

Should take less than 30 seconds of your time to view here piece here and click the "vote" button.

Thanks all .....

Done. Girl don't need any vote-rigging favours from her old dad tho, looks like. Girl's got talent.

As previously stated, I would have voted for that without the vote rigging.

Does she have an online portfolio?

I spoke to her about this and she tells me it's something she has been meaning to do for a while.

Is it important for her to have a personalised website [domain name] or would it be okay to drop it onto the cloud space BT have provided as part of my recent switch to Infinity B/B?

On the downside...

My nephew is doing a film course at Uni, is turning in work WAY superior to his peers and the years above, and through an accident of birth has gained work experience at an Oscar-winning animation studio and through an accident of remote geography has an Oscar-winning actress living just down the road with kids same age as him. Plus he goes to Uni with this kid who is just a random Indian kid in his class. Apart from this random Indian kid is a Bollywood household name turns out. Sadly my nephew has absolute zero in the way of hustle, is yer typical can't be arsed teen, so will doubtless end up working in a butchers in Inverurie unless his dad quits work and becomes his agent. And the moral is: talent alone isn't enough unless you're lucky in the extreme. you have to have an eye for the main chance also, or somebody to do that for you. Fact.

I think it would look more professional to have a proper website, rather that some images in a cloud space, and there are plenty of websites that specialise in creating online portfolios - www.designinstruct.com/roundups/free-online-portfoli

They're very engaging illustrations - if a little derivative as you say. I vote for her - good luck to her.

I didn't mean my post to come across as suggesting palgiarism, but having re-read it can see it probably did. I was wondering if she was familiar with his work and if it influenced her style? I really like the style, and my kids are big fans of his books, so if she can put some good stories to her illustrations she's got a good shout of being published as well as exhibited I'd say.

And yes, I have voted for her. Good luck!

Actually, I like a lot of the stuff on there... but Ben Armson? I can see why he's only got 36 votes. Not even his friends are voting for him!

Just had a text from my daughter asking me to thank all of you for the votes you kindly made.

She has received an email from the organisers to advise her that she has "been selected for their collective" - which basically means they will be hosting her work on their website.

Many thanks NSC
