Assuming it's true, think it is a bad move for White in terms of footballing career but who knows how much he'll be earning now, certainly more than anyone at Brighton. However, it is an excellent deal for us. £50m for our third choice centre back, what's not to like.

If he still can't coach a striker to score a bloody goal, this will be the other reason GPott leaves.

One more of these deals (looking at you Biss) and every owner will want him irrespective of how shitehouse his team is collectively.

Confirmed at 50 million on talk sport so won't see Ben in a Brighton shirt again

Talksport are just repeating what’s on Twitter and what the other media outlets are saying. Until either Brighton or Arsenal officially announce anything then nothing is confirmed. Although I’m sure that will change within the next week or so.

Fantastic by the club. 50m for White is fantastic business - he's not worth that imo but we stuck at a price and got it. Many of us said we should take 30million 1 year ago, instead we got a season of him playing + an extra 20m. AMAZING

Agree on this front. Outrageously good decision in the end to keep him for a season in the Prem, even at the bottom end of the division. And we might keep Bissouma now.

Although for Bloom getting £50m in is a bit like me being given £100 by my Nan.

Fabrizio romano has confirmed. As reliable as any source on the planet for transfers.

Rather sad really. Such an amazing player and we barely got to see him in the stripes. He's going to have an exceptional career at club and international level and his time with us will just be a footnote.

His rise has been truly meteoric, from being a liability in defence in the first part of the season to becoming our player of the season by the end.

He won't be that easy to replace, but I'm sure there will be a top defender on his way to us

One thing we can be absolutely sure of.

No matter what’s reported, it’ll be a great deal for Brighton and Hove Albion.

This is an exciting time in many ways. This is the start of becoming wholly self sustaining as a club. Will be interesting to see which of our young talented CB’s will make the cut to join the seniors. We saw Ostigard and Hayden in training recently. But we also have Dedoncker and Van Ecke (excuse the spelling). Big decisions for GP and the staff to make.

But genuinely, and most excitingly… I think we can cover for Ben White leaving. That’s how good our squad is.

Good post and correct.

Not forgetting Veltman as well.

I believe our team in the second half of the season (once Sanchez became number 1) was top 10 in form.

So can’t agree with you saying “GP’s team is shite collectively”. Just flatly untrue.

Naylor now sucking up to Ornstein on twitter but couldn't report anything the other week until Barber and co had given him the go ahead.

God i hate the way our press is managed these days.

If Lamptey can stay fit then you would think Veltman can play Right centre back no bother. Very good business, hopefully.

Now to see what happens with Bissouma and our billion midfielders

Agree. I think a few of us were saying this earlier in the thread, but it was misconstrued as “lol of course he’d turn down Brighton for Arsenal”.

I think the kid can do better. There’s no guarantees of anything of course, but this may be his one big move. I don’t think this current Arsenal club is a good destination. No Europe. Fan base is, jokes aside, fairly toxic. Arteta will always be a few games from the sack, and I also think their ownership is seriously suspect. He could have had one more season here, then got a true elite move to a Liverpool. Man U, City, or Europe. We will find out in time how good this move is for him.

But I will say this. I wouldn’t be a million percent shocked if we finish around or even above Arsenal this season. That would be very sweet indeed.

I agree, surprised a bigger club did not come in for him.

Crazy crazy fee.

But bissaka was £55m which is even more mental.

Wan Bissaka was £45m, with just under £5m add ons. The only English players to go for more than £50m are Maguire, Sterling & Stones. Liverpool, Spurs, Chelsea, Everton Man U, Southampton & Leicester are the only seven clubs in English football to have ever sold a player for £50m+. We'd become the eighth.

The one good thing about Arteta is Arsenal's defence even with their dodgy personnel at the back, their defence is good. White will improve that.

He wouldn't get a game at City or Liverpool when VVD is fit. I did wonder if United would go for him though.

Or he could have one more season here, not perform well and never get his chance at a big move again.

I think we have to accept Naylor is more a reactionary journo these days. He probably doesn’t have the contact someone like Brian Owen has.

Also felt the same, it was slightly weak that our two Albion reporters had virtually nothing to say on our clubs biggest ever sale.
