It’s a FIFA rule. Although from what I’ve read is not that clear whether it applies to clubs that a player has been loaned to or just clubs where a player was part of the academy prior to signing a professional contract, in which case it’d just be Stains that would get any ££.

Although the most important thing is that White went to Leeds 10 months after his 21st, so they get nothing.

I'm not sure Newporrt or Peterborough will get anything - somebody posted a very clear explanation of what payments might be due the other day on NSC, and from that it looked as if payments to Newport and Peterborough would only be triggered if he transfers to another national FA. on other words, goes abroad. In which case, as Arsenal would now be the selling club, so they would be the ones to pay.

It's all a bit complex - I may have misunderstood what I read. I expecrt the lawyers will soon sort it out .......................................

I’m not wound up by Leeds fans, they lost out. BW was never their player, their bids dismissed by far greater minds than the chancers making them and just 11 months later Brighton and Hove Football Club bank £50m. Leeds £nil.
