This is the shock for me, with Dan Ashworth and a forward thinking board I'm certain we have already identified a replacement for Potter if he were to leave anytime soon. Clubs need to be built with stability and a long term plan that doesn't change if you loose the manager, that way they can recruit a certain style of person and someone who will focus on player development and coaching leaving the other things to CEO's and the like. Burnley are cheap skates, Eddie needs a big budget so would probably do very well as long as the billy big bollocks players didn’t laugh at his achievements as a player.

Fergie left a mess at United. How he managed to coax, cajole and bully that team to the League Championship in his last season was probably the greatest miracle of his remarkable career - the whole team needed rebuilding at that point - and had been for a couple of seasons. He left a mess to blow up in Moyes' face.
