Taking your point about ‘the happy, clappy family friendly ethos’. I was at the Goldstone to watch us play Chelsea at the start of the 1983/84 season. Chelsea brought down thousands of their fans. It was complete mayhem with dozens of innocent supporters being beaten up inside and outside the ground. The Chelsea mob invaded the pitch after the final whistle and pulled down the North Stand goal. They then attacked a couple of coppers in the centre circle and kicked them unconscious. So that in a nutshell was watching football in the 1980s.

I can’t say I’ve noticed many ‘away’ fans in my section of the West Upper. I suppose, if there are any, they behave and sit on their hands like I would if I was watching the Albion on an away trip in the home end.

I think I prefer, therefore, to be with the happy clappy brigade when it comes to following my team - at least then I know the chances of ending up in A&E are greatly reduced. The additional bonus being I’m happy to take my daughter and grandson to a game - something I definitely would not have done back in the 1980s.

The club would rather kick out shouty home supporters who tell away fans to f*ck off, than celebrating away fans.

That has nothing to do with the violence of 40 years ago.

Other than Fulham, I’m not sure other clubs take that stance. The fortress might even be liked to help generate a nightmare for away teams.

Was there also ,in the North West corner , even one of the Chelsea players was arrested that that day although of course we do go on to sing him .

About 10 minutes into the game this man walks up the steps in N1D videoing or streaming the game on his mobile , I immediately thought (yes i was stereotyping) Arsenal TV had joined us, couldn't hear of he said blud as he made his way along the row 3qtrs of the way to the top

When the second went in, the moment it hit the net I was on my feet just staring in disgust, some geezer a few rows back was screaming, I assume at me “sit down fella! sit down fella!” like you would if you wanted to have a go at an away fan but you were really posh.

Unfortunately it’s market forces, all the time away fans, in this case Arsenal, are prepared to pay £300 plus for corporate hospitality in ‘home areas’, there will always be potential issues at matches.

I could be wrong here, but in my experience if you buy hospitality you tend to be put into either a specific corralled area of the East (top of the lower) or in amongst the 1901 West Middle where they’re used to away supporters (who are allowed). I don’t think hospitality customers are ever put in home areas.

Where? If you see any then alert Stewards thats what the club would want and if you didn't why didn't you you clearly like me and no doubt others don't want them in the home stands so you need to take appropriate action. And yeah they are pr1cks

I started this thread last season so your reply is a year late. Thanks for the patronising advice though, not needed as that's what I did hence why they were booted out 90 seconds later...last season.

We had a trio in the east 1901 who openly stood up and cheered Trossard on as he went through on goal, nevermind jumping up and celebrating the second. Surely they need more than a polite request?

Had a pair of Arsenal fans next to me in the WSU (one had an Arsenal background on his phone). He started filming the Saka penalty so just before he kicked it I, rather aggressively, nudged his arm messing up his video. The pair then left on 35 mins, didn't come back until 55 mins and then disappeared again at 85 mins. Could also be due to them seeing the 2 kids get escorted out from the block over and a guy behind me shouting "f*** 'EM UP" very loudly.
