Never been in the home end at an away ground for this reason, a lot of you are just hypocrites, if you don't like away fans next to you at home games then don't do that yourself at away games

I have, even went to Palace away for the 0-0 play off game. That was a bizarre experience, like being on the wrong side of the bars in a zoo.

I didn't make a show, kept quiet, showed respect, stood if the other team scored. That's why I've stopped doing it, not enough enjoyment from.it.

The issue I and many others posting on this thread is the behaviour of those away fans, the reluctance of stewards to act and the difference in behaviour and attitude of the club to knowing who's in the away end at other clubs ground vs home stands at the amex.

Nothing hypocritical in any of that. Nothing wrong in not wanting away fans in the home end either. Football would be a lesser experience in my opinion without segregation, the tribalism during the game is part of it for me.

problem is that I reckon a lot of these are being picked up through the exchange by dual allegiance types with membership

Unfortunately a spanner in the works on this issue is corporate hospitality, a huge income stream for the club, I was in the Goldstone Restaurant, I took my daughter Amy’s agent as a thank you for all she does for her, she’s Islington born and bred, and a dyed in the wool Gooner, she was in good company on Saturday with the diners going on host Bob Bookers request for a show of hands about a 60/40 split Albion/Arsenal, and bear in mind if the currently banned Dick Knight’s normal family party from London of six had been in attendance, they are predominately Gooner heavy.


Can anyone moan about Arsenal fans being scattered around the ground when the club are more than happy from knowingly taking nearly £300 a pop each from Arsenal fans for the excellent corporate experience?

If the tickets are legitimately purchased should there be an issue? Providing the ‘away’ fans don’t over celebrate, surely in a civilised society, in which we all love the beautiful game, can’t intelligent opposing fans sit together?

I think we need to separate hospitality / corporate and normal seats in the stands. I’ve seen Brighton away in hospitality a fair few times and like Harty says always fairly balanced mix at all levels.

It’s fans with memberships or season tickets knowingly selling tickets to selling to away fans that needs to be sorted.

This is the nub of the issue. For many years, Fulham operated a successful neutral section which I'm sure many of you used. I bought tickets in there for many mates of mine who live in Brighton but support other clubs (some of whom are now Albion ST holders!). We all happily sat there and celebrated our goals without issues from fans around us. The best one was when there were more Arsenal in there than Fulham and we got a late equaliser and Zamora scored an even later winner. I would hope people would be able to respect the difference between celebrating and abusing - wherever they're sitting. If you're in a neutral section you celebrate and dont give abuse, if you've been bought tickets in a home section, you sit on your hands. End of.

You have been trying to get at anyone mentioning the away tickets all through this thread. You really didn’t have to use the comments in your last to posts that were really aimed at anyone that had dared to complain about the behaviour of Arsenal fans on Saturday……many Albion fans have posted genuine comments, we should be able to sit with fellow Albion fans if we buy a ST.

You suddenly piping up with the childish comments “fans crying about having away fans around them” and telling Albion fans to “grow up” is wrong. This is the thread for Albion fans to comment/ complain about Arsenal fans in the home stands.

Correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t think you go to home games anymore, so I don’t think you are in a position to knock ST buying fans on this subject.

Getting back on topic. If away fans have legitimately managed to buy tickets in the home end, and are discreet and respectful I can’t see a huge issue. If they’re being a bit lairy it’s a different matter; I wouldn’t object to their presence purely on their choice of team.

That said, I have been to some away games and had absolute Brighton cocks near me who I’d have happily seen chucked out.

Exactly I had a West Ham fan sat next to me a few seasons ago. It was just tiny little movements he made during play that gave it away to me. At HT I said to him, "you're a Hammer aren't you?". Err "yes" he said ... followed up with comments that he didn't realise he'd given it away. But he was very respectful ... was born very close to West Ham and used to have a season ticket there before moving down to Lancing. He was very respectful ... we had a good chat during the HT break ... and shook hands as he left just before the final whistle. No issues whatsoever with that.

And yes, I've seen plenty of those Brighton cocks at away games ... some who were chucked out thankfully!

If the club aren't vigilant - and seen to be vigilant - in slinging out away fans giving it the big one in home areas, then it's hard not to conclude that the club are at some level complicent in selling those tickets to those people to maximise ticket sales.

I have said just let the stewards deal with gobby Arsenal fans and that the non gobby ones are entitled to be there if they have paid for their ticket from the club ie have submitted all their details to the club and provided it with revenue. There is no reason to use them as a stick to beat the club’s ticket policy with. Finally, it’s a shame you feel the need to comment on which games people go to. As mentioned on this thread there were Arsenal fans removed from the Amex on Saturday, clearly some were playing up.
I very much doubt I would notice an away fan that was sitting on their hands and quietly watching the match, I can’t say I have any issue with respectful away fans in home stands.

I’m not using a stick to beat the club’s ticket policy, if Albion fans have to put up with abusive away supporters around them in home ends I’m going to stick up for them and agree with their comments on here.
It’s happened where I sit with away fans and not something I want to see.

The comment about not going is that YOU didn’t have to put up with the Arsenal fans that have been mentioned on this thread…..you wasn’t there.

Club in my experience - are neither complicit or complacent about selling tickets to fans who tout, misbehave, break club rules or break the law THPP but of course rely on stewards and fans /police reporting miscreants. If anything they’re pretty draconian - as any number of stories shared on here prove over the last few years. Few examples of backing down or second chances and plenty of examples of stiff sanctions - bitterly complained about with some justification by posters including I’m sure yourself and even me for some cases.

As for selling tickets corporate or otherwise to non Albion fans (how on earth do you filter em out ? ) who don’t misbehave - then the club - like all clubs is relaxed about that tho it makes far more commercial sense to convert them to blue and white and they presumably make good ££ out of it. So what ? (although you often have to be a A+ Member to pick up tickets ) .

I think sometimes it’s nice to stick together with fellow Albion fans on certain issues, not criticise people that have spoken up on this thread.

You’re right that I don’t go to home games at the moment. I’m still entitled to comment on them though. I’m a BHA fan and will hopefully go again at some point. Lots of home fans comment on threads about incidents at away matches without attracting the thread police.
There were Arsenal fans who played up and were removed. Not much more the club can do other than continue doing that. My comments were simply around the outrage of some that they have to put up with it. Nobody wants people to be inconvenienced but on this occasion they were. There is a more grown up reaction.
Defend who you wish but don’t take it out on me because you are irritated about something that happened at a football match.
