[Football] Arsenal Away kit

What a shame Arsenal didn't play in their red and white strip on Sunday. Their fans all turned up with red/white shirts and scarves but the players wore that horrible black strip looking like postmen. It seems to take some of the sense of occasion away when a top club like Arsenal trot onto the field looking like Scunthorpe Reserves. Judging by my view of the away supporters nobody had invested in the black kit so it can't be a financial ploy by the club.
I see no good reason to change kit colours when playing awayunless there is an obvious colour clash. And yet, also on Sunday, both Man City and Chelsea played in Blue. Very Odd.

They were going to play in their first choice kit (i.e. the red and white job). Unfortunately there were so many scroungers holding up placards begging for their heroes shirts when the team arrived at the Amex that they had none left to wear for the game. Hence the reason for the Gooners wearing their prissy little black number.

Well lets face it, we have worn our 'university gold' change strip in several away games this season, when their was no apparent reason why we couldn't have worn the stripes.

Agreed. I’m “old school” and remember days looking forward to seeing visiting teams in their proper traditional kits. Teams like Arsenal, Blackpool, Plymouth, Norwich have such distinctive colours that have been washed away by commercialism.

I remember as a kid pestering my Dad to take me to the Goldstone to watch Bradford City because of their unique (maroon and gold stripes, I think) kit at the time. I also had a Subbuteo team with those colours so that was another reason..

Would that be the postmen that wear red p.o. shirts, red cajoules and red fleeces?

Always think the big teams look less intimidating in their latest 2nd or 3rd kits. Sure it helps us so not complaining

Really don’t care what the oppo wear and care even less about their fans attire!
Would have made no difference to me if they were in red and white!

I'll be disgusted if we don't wear the stripes at Old Trafford in the Cup.

Disgusted? Irritated or annoyed, miffed even. Disgusted is the incident describing the Palace coach driver's antics.

Disgust - sicken, revulsion, nauseate. Surely a shirt doesn't have that effect on you?

Pedant Award of the Day goes to me!!

Quite agree. The word "disgusted" is seriously overused these days - by anyone with even a mild complaint against anything. Another one that annoys me is "legend" for any player who has played a few games and scored a few goals. Legends shoud be a) dead, b) barely remembered by anybody alive apart from stories that were handed down by their elders.

Thanks. Another pedant.

I thought, more appropriately, would have been bringing down those massive Gunners flags that occasionally go up when they score, but for the away game at the Amex it could have been just two big white flags!

Yes, and some scrounging kid would have scrawled on a bit of cardboard - " Ozil, please give me your white flag".

Yet another pedant here :bigwave:

A legend should also be something that probably didn't exist. Or at least, something that there is no proof or evidence of.

Like the missing Cup Final money.
