Overtaking them for future European away games is gonna be near impossible
You don't need to 'overtake' 2,500 people. Did we find out what proportion of T1 people took up the offer of tickets for Ajax and Marseille? Whatever it was, quite a few went on sale to the next tier so you can assume that plenty didn't want to go or were unable to.

Okay but I lost out in the Ajax T2 ticket scramble and my comment concerned wanting to avoid that again.

Think this is correct - don’t think it even sold out at T2 last time. I know a few T1s that can’t be arsed with the whole ballache of it, and being so close to Christmas might also have an impact.
Me n the boy were T2 last year and don’t recall struggling to get a pair. This year (time/date) it’s less appealing, however we’ll be sitting this one out.

Yeah they had queues outside the stadium for the first 15 minutes of the game, for the first couple of games, I believe.
Get there early.

It is madness that people are complaining about being in Tier 2 and having to 'catch up'. Well that's the point.

Fortunately we have so many repeat grounds and increasingly expensive trips including Europe that not everyone in T1 can go to every game, which is why even a few hundred Ajax tickets went on sale to T2 despite it being a staggeringly popular away game.

Get your games in, quit complaining and you'll eventually make T1 even if it's not until next season.

Ajax was probably one of the most sought-after and accessible away games we could possibly have had and only our second away game after the first was made to sound a bit dodgy - easy travel, iconic team/ground, great city etc - so there was ‘peak demand’ (at least for now). 15-point northern away games are always easy to get tickets for for anyone needing to boost their balance.

How long are we all usually kept back after the game?
Difficult to tell these days as last time I am pretty sure there was no lock-in we were allowed to just walk back to the station whereas other times 20 minutes plus and a long escort back
