I think a lot of poeple interpreted Dick's comments on the phone in to suggest that Arsenal would be reciprocating the favour by helping us with our striker crisis. Putting two and two together and getting five kinda thing. (Or zero, if you're the Albion's front line.)

Though in fairness he never did anymore than mention the Arsenal friendly a couple of times when supposedly answering a question about strikers.

I am trying so hard to give the guy the benefit of the doubt on this issue, probably too hard as Im certainly someone who came up with 5 after Saturday out of sheer desperation I might add.

Probably because this "special" relationship with Arsenal only goes one way. Remember it was Arsenals youth coach who helped land us with El Turi. If we do get anyone he'll probably be useless

Arsenal loanees (from Arsenal) that I recall

Valur Gilsomeone or other - shit
Mark Flatts - pretty shit
Barrett - shit

Sidwell was more Coppell than Arsenal helping us out

Any I've missed?

Sidwell??

A lot of people seem to be making a lot of assumptions based upon not a lot of information.

All we know so far is the result, who played for either side, and that Arsene, DK, and McGhee were there. How can any of this lead to anyone knowing for certain whether or not we're getting a loan from Arsenal?

(Or have I completely missed something?)

I heard a rumour that Sidwell was offered to Martin Hinshelwood at the start of that season and he turned him down because he didn't think he was better than any one we already had.
Then when Coppell came in in October the loan deal was back on.
So was that Coppell or Dick Knight?

I heard similar rumour, with Hinsh going for Butters instead of Upson...

That's how I heard it too. Sidwell was totally down to Coppell who had him at Brentford. Not vaguely impressed with all this crap about Arsenal and the Albion's relationship. They could loan us a whole team and not even notice it.

Probably DK is a good friend of Brady, and why not, but I suspect that Brady carries close to zero influence at Arsenal.

Nice to see Dodd playing again, hopefully he will be back in a couple of weeks.

According to the official site he's available for Sat against QPR. He's already been training and played 70 mins today.

Did anyone spot Freddie the Swede has picked up a calf injury?

If Arsenal REALLY needed to see Van Persie back before we could be permitted some crumbs from their table, I fear losing Freddie for a few weeks, could set any deal back again. Although not a striker, Freddie playing off Henry is probably more likely than Lupoli or Bendtner getting a start. So I dounbt either of them have actually slipped a place in the pecking order.

Let's face it guys. The side we have right now is the side that have to get us the points to survive. NO-ONE is coming in. Face it.

I think all that Brady does is recommend players to Dick and then maybe we can then see if the club want to loan them to us....

I don't think we are going to sign anyone...and we only have a week left to make any loan signings anyway

IMHO we have always had a good relationship with Arsenal. If you look on the Pathe News site http://www.britishpathe.com/product...word=brighton+arsenal&Search.x=33&Search.y=26 there is a good clip from 1938 of the Arsenal team training at the Goldstone and then playing golf at one of the local courses. I suspect that a trip down to the seaside may have been quite common for them in the past.
