Pathetic, when I were a lad we would have a KO with the police not just record it on cameras and phones

Heavy handed wanker police as usual then. What a waste of police time.

Police told Sky News Online that one man was detained on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. He is still being questioned.

The other five people have now been released on bail. They were held over various offences including affray, possession of an offensive weapon, two Section 5 public order offences and theft.

Yeah, because being arrested for GBH, affray and possessing an offensive weapon really suggests it was nothing but a harmless water fight, doesn't it? Theft is theft, whether you're in a water fight or not. And no, before you ask, a water pistol isn't an offensive weapon, which suggests the person arrested may have had something a bit more naughty than that on him.

The video footage no doubt shows plenty of people having a laugh, that doesn't mean some people weren't causing major problems elsewhere. Even the police said it started out as a harmless bit of fun but escalated. And presumably the reason they turned up in the first place was because at least one person deemed it enough of a concern to dial 999.

But yeah, go right ahead and blame the OB

funny isnt it that on this football site if you had posted a video of an mild off at a football match people would be tripping over themselves to denounce it.

get a mixture of dull sheeplike idiot twentysomethings, various oddballs, foreign students and homegrown rudeboys having a go at the OB and apparently its great.

In fairness that guy who got tackled is a f***ing knob. and that picture of the girl getting chopped one shows that the OB were right to intervene.

It's a shame the police couldn't give that fat bloke in the white t-shirt a good kick-in.

All I'm saying is that the police must have attended because they had calls from the public about it, suggesting all was not sweetness and light.

Maybe some guy got upset because his girlfriend didn't like being soaked, offers the perpetrator out, his mates all join in, and you have a fight on your hands. Hypothetical but people do get wound up over daft stuff sometimes, especially if they've been drinking.

What are the police going to do, stand around and watch them kick the crap out of each other in full view of families, kids and every other park user?

best footage ever? really? the chap should go home to see some real police action.

anyone reading the sky news link says the internet organisers stated "As soon as the clock strikes 1pm, let battle commence - get as many other people wet without getting wet yourself!". no chance of that upsetting someone then. as much as it a bit of harmless fun, someone would have been deeply offended by getting splashed, cue trouble.

It is a shame we seem to need 'organised fun'. Ecuador has a water festival and it is free for all for the whole week. Not some kind of flash mob Hyde Park type scenario.

Water balloons, pistols, hoses galore. Brilliant fun.

i'd have got the police horses in there as well. full baton charge. f***ing youth of today need to be cracked over the head a few times to drum some discipline into them. pisses me off to see all the mouthy wankers thinking that they're hard and untouchable, bodie and doyle would have sorted 'em out!

That guy who got himself nicked was clearly a twat. He was trying to provoke the police (and that was mentioned by the filmer) and ended up getting arrested for his trouble and rightly so. Im not a big fan of the police but I hope that guy got a good slap.
