I think mainly I followed him because he has the same name as me. Seriously good driver though! Now commenting on Sky, when they show short-circuit motor racing.
Did enjoy the battles he had with George Polley! Again another great driver. He moved from Heathfield to the Fens, so his motor racing business had a bigger customer area.
Those old Anglia's and Ford Escorts didn't half go round Arlington fast
Tough one but, and Im sorry to be peadifiliac here (or whatever the word is), you are not comparing like with like one comparing either George Polley or Barry Lee with the Brighton Bashers. They wewre both Hot Rodney drivers and the Bashers were banger pilots.
I would therefore go for George Polley and the Brighton Bashers.
How about Ted Harris for his efforts in a Ford Anglia on the Roll Over challenge vibe though?
George Polley, the National World Final at Ipswich in the Wet against Phil White was unbelievable (pic below), then when he got knocked out the year after...quality bloke, met him in a service station on the way back from Angmering once!
At Arlington I always liked the midgets, especially the rear VW engined one (name escapes me now) as we always had Beetles in the family. (I voted for Polley, though I probably really preferred Duffy)
