I come from an age where the deaths of people of my age are only reported in the local newspaper. As long as I don’t lead an exiting life I guess I’m OK.

I applied for an alcohol licence last year and I had to put an announcement in a local paper to allow concerned locals to object - there was a list of about three and they all charged north of £200 for a few lines which I doubt anyone read.
I suspect that there are still quite a few things where there is a statutory requirement to have an announcement in a physically printed newspaper. It may not be long before there are papers whose main source of income is this sort of thing.
