Whilst I'm sure their statement reflects the feelings of most fans it doesn't indicate that the paper has any idea who Gus's successor might be, or what contingency plans the club have already put in place.

I would be amazed if Bloom and Barber haven't at least got their hit list of successors, and be ready to interview straight away. Given the amount of notice they've had on this I'd expect them to already have their man lined up to take over next week.

We've all been told, Argus included, that the hearing is tomorrow. For the Argus to tell them to "sort it out now" is just absurd and smacks that they haven't a clue what they are on about. Indeed, on Monday they dated the day's edition the 17th July 2013 which just goes to show how poor their standards have become since they ceased to be a local paper.

Quite agree about the Argus tiptoeing around the Amex scared of hurting anyone's feelings. They seem to be in their pockets, and don't want to risk being excluded from the inner circle. Where's the objective journalism these days? Local paper should be screaming for change, not just politely suggesting it.

The Albion is The Argus biggest regular story. The odd murder etc might trump Brighton coverage occasionally but with 20,000 plus fans all interested in news coming from the club, The Argus has missed a trick in not taking a lead on this saga.

As I said earlier, they don't have to speculate, they don't have to spread gossip or rumour, but they should be asking questions rather than a half-hearted call to "Sort it out" a week or so after the situation called for an editorial.

That said, as was suggested earlier this month, I don't think either Andy Naylor or Brian Owen are to blame. With all that is going on the story has surely moved to the news pages. The superb Vicente scoop was an example of local journalism at its best: Good contacts, brave reporting etc.

The 2nd last paragraph is misleading - it implies that BHA have to go to court to sack Poyet. They don't; he can be sacked tomorrow, and it's up to him to decide whether or not to take BHA to court for unfair dismissal.

It's their job to report what is possible to report. The alternative is to resort to the above or simply to make it up. Is that what you want?

Why are you sure? Why would they not report it in that case? It would be coup for them.

And if they do know more but are bound by a confidentiality agreement, they are acting perfectly correctly.

As a rule, I tend not to. The Argus imploring that the situation needs sorting now, that won't have escaped anybody's attention. The hearing tomorrow will result in the situation being 'sorted' as they put it, albeit it is likely to only then be the start of legal proceedings.
