Having a mooch around charity shops yesterday, I found a quiz game I had never heard of before - as in the title. As the box says it is challenging, fun AND informative, I thought it worthy of £2. It has 400 questions about Brighton & Hove across 6 difficulties so I thought posting a few on here might be a wheeze. It is from 2004 so I doubt I am impacting sales much. It actually has boards with place names on and complicated rules about 25/75 jokers or somesuch but I will just go with some questions. Let's start with one from each level

Level 1. Which one time Brighton resident was Radio 1's first female DJ?

A. Janice Long
B. Annie Nightingale
C. Sara Cox
D. Jo Whiley

Level 2. Where would you find Brighton & Hove Register Office?

A. Trafalgar Street
B. Bartholomew Square
C. Edward Street
D. Regency Square

Level 3. How did Rose find out how Pinky really felt about her?

A. By tape recording
B. By letter
C. By gramaphone recording
D. By telegram

Level 4. Who was cremated in Down's crematorium?

A. Virginia Woolf
B. Vanessa Bell
C. Duncan Grant
D. Maynard Keynes

Level 5. When was the sea wall built?

A. 1859
B. 1829
C. 1791
D. 1806

Level 6. Which cinema's advertising slogan was 'the pictures that do not strain the eyes'?

A. Bijou Empire
B. Savoy
C. Astoria
D. Duke of York

Remember - don't phone, it's just for fun. And don't cheat. I will keep these by the PC and post some every now and then as work allows if they are popular.

Level 3. How did Rose find out how Pinky really felt about her?

A. By tape recording
B. By letter
C. By gramaphone recording
D. By telegram

This question is slightly misleading because the answer only applies to the book rather than the film

I was about to have a go but got bills bath's and sickert wrong. Not bad for a load of guesses.

It does seem level 5 and 6 are very difficult. Level 1 questions:

What could you expect to see on Brighton beach every Christmas Day? Sledging, Swimming, Volleyball or Football.
What was the Brighton Belle?
Who bought himself the title Lord of Brighton?

Level 2

How large was the populace of Brighton as recorded in the Domesday Book? 40, 400, 4000, 40000
What was the original meaning of the word Laine? Lane, Tithe, Toll, Lease
Which Road in Hove has the only gardens in Brighton that back onto the beach? Wilbury Avenue, Brunswick Terrace, Courtney Terrace, Grand Avenue

Level 3

In which park would you find a scented garden for the blind? St Ann's Wells Garden, Preston Park, Queen's Park, Hove Park
First Albion mention I have seen! Which local celebrity is a director of BHAFC? Chris Eubank, Norman Cook, Robin Cousins, Adam Faith
Which mountain was named after a Hove born person? Mt Cook, Mt Everest, Mt Snowdon, Mt McKinley

Level 4

What first in Britain did Brighton boast in 1938? communal swimming, municipal camping site, public library, television set
Which pub is the most likely setting for the opening scenes of Brighton Rock? The Star and Garter, The Oriental, The Grovsenor Arms, The Great Eastern
In 1886 the Aquarium hosted the first what on its terrace? Boules game in Britain, Roller skating carnival, Badminton tournament, Ferret race

These are definitely not easy questions - starting to see why I hadn't seen the game before
