Now the dust has started to settle and the shock has been ridden, how do you feel about MA's appointment, leaving aside any bad taste about the way it was done.
I don't think 'excited' is quite the right word; I haven't really been excited by one of our mangerial appointments since Brian Clough.
Part of the reason why I'm not in full 'wetting-my-pants-with-excitement' mode is because whilst I worshipped Adams when he was here the first time since leaving us he has had a very modest record - some would even say poor. Given what he did for us (and Fulham before that) I genuinely thought he'd have done far better than he has.
Consequently I'm neutral about his return, but hopefully this time next year I'll be saying it was yet another great decision by Dick Knight and the board.
I am.
I liked the Wilko as a human and admired him as a player, but the two seemed similar and therefore humble and playful and seemingly harmless, gentle and teacherly at times, peripheral, but occasionally important for moments on the field of play. I am not sure in a managerial sense he had the nerveless might to persuade people he was right without question. His journey was outward and he seemed to progress, but those in charge decided the trek was too long and too many footprints seemed outsized or scraped.
I think Adams knows what he is doing sure-footedly and severed from doubt in his person. I was never a fan of his lifeless hair, but as a manager he was ready for a rumble, and that probably rubbed off on the players. I suppose that confidence and surety could be passed to the younger ones of now, and could be bloody well exciting. His record is by no means perfect, but we as a club have not vastly transformed, even with a future more certain, and therefore could be taken on something of a ride toward Falmer with him as a worthy helm.
Warnock has stated that his next job (Before Palace) was to be his last in football.
I know he also stated that he would have liked to have managed the Albion in his time, but I think this is now in the past.
In Micky I think we have a manager who is under no illusions as to what it takes to get promoted at ALL levels. The trick was keeping him interested and commited. This is now a reality with a new stadium on the way and renewed interest in investment on all levels.
Also at 46 he is at the right level of experience with the right amount of drive to succeed left.
Of course the proof of the pudding will be in the eating, but essentially I think we now have the right man in place to be given the time and support to deliver a successful team in time for the new stadium.
At this moment in time I am very excited................. mainly because I can get back on redtube.com again.......... and of course by Mickey`s return.
