Just once?Done it many times.I'm not bragging as it's not clever but i do drive carefully.I must knock it on the head though. It's not that i'm worried about causing a accident because i know i wouldn't.If i lose my liecence i can say good bye to my job. There are far more people under the influence of drugs then Alcohol who don't get tested

Without wanting to sound self righteous, I wouldn't drink and drive even if I did drink, I have seen the effects and to be honest they aren't pretty. (ask the likes of Bry and edna who will doubtless have seen what drinking and driving on a regular basis before deciding how clever it is)

Five years ago I witnessed a road accident on Christmas Eve, did my dutiful motorist bit and went to help the person who was involved. She had crashed into the central barrier just before attempting to turn left at some traffic lights, however when I got to her car to help her out there was a strong smell of alcohol, she was so pissed that she could barely stand up. Whilst another motorist helped move her car I went off to find a policeman, we then returned to the scene, where was arrested and carted off to the police station. I also had to go back to the station to make a statement, the woman was breathalised again, one of the cops told me that it was the highest reading they had taken all year. That sent me off for Christmas with a warm glow, knowing that I had helped remove a potential death threat from the roads, however what is to say that she wouldn't go out and do exactly the same thing again.

I wish I had chance to drink over the limit. Am nursing so a big fat no from me. Not that I would drink and drive.

Take a taxi people, it's just not worth it.

As a matter of fact how many people have driven the morning after the night before ? Its pretty certain that more than a few have not realising that they are still over the limit.

It's not the night of the drinking thats the problems most people ar eresponsible but how many people are driving still over the limit the next morning - That's when you can get caught out.

The thing is its a lot easier to do than it seems. Not many people know how long it takes for alcohol to get out of the bloodstream.

Its one thing to stagger out of the pub to your car but quite another to sleep it off (or so you think) then drive to Tescos in the morning.

Two years ago we went on holiday to Derbyshire and a car slammed into the back of us and I got tested and fortunately was OK when it was not my fault the accident.

Think it is a lot easier than you think to be over the limit.

That isn't the whole story Goring, my kid brother was mown down on the way home from school by a driver who had had a few drinks with his lunch then fell asleep behind the wheel, he tested negative but the Police said that alcohol was a factor.

I think it is impracticable to have a zero limit for alcohol in the bloodstream as the body does produce some naturally, however if the present limit were reduced to a level whereby having a couple of normal drinks put people over the limit then it would definitely be a step in the right direction and make most people think that the risks of getting caught were too great.

Indeed it is. One of the side effects of inebriation is that you get over confident and your perception is completely out of wack. What you think is good and safe driving is in fact erratic to put it mildly. Having slept over night you think you're okay where as if there's still alcohol in your bloodstream you're not, even if you think you are.

Something else to consider is the individual's metabolism and physiology. Its a well established fact that orientals get sloshed on next to no alcohol. Sorry to be a bore but abstinence is the only really safe answer.

I will be honest here and say that I used to drive to work after having a few bevvies the night before, was probably still over the limit but thought that it was safe and OK. However, seeing my then 17 year old brother in Southlands hospital looking like he cheated death by inches, with his leg in traction, his head looking like he had gone 15 rounds with Tyson and needing a catheter to pee...that changed my opinion forever.
