Any advice on getting to the Amex from Burgess Hill? Don't fancy going to Brighton Station and then changing trains to Falmer Station. Is there any plans to run a coach or a bus to the Amex from these parts?

Try this bunch of reprobates or get the train at Wivelsfield and change at Lewes:

Yes you could get a train to Shoreham, then walk to the Royal George ....eat some lunch for £5 and get a few beers and jump on with Rogero

 The Royal George is about as far as you can get away from the station, without being closer to Southwick Station!

I used to live next door to The RG - in the flat above the old Co-op (no longer there).

(I remember watching them making the roundabout and cutting through the hill to the by-pass, and used the newly created chalk road to cycle over to Coombs Woods and the Adur. My first pair of Levi's faded sensationally from all that scraping around on the chalk.)
(all will be revealed in my autobiography, which I will happily sign for NSC members)
