It's obviously a generational difference in the name. I assume you're talking about pre-drinks.

An essential part of the evening for any student and occasionally the best part.

Indeed, as a student this was standard practice. Sometimes I would even reach the stage of the evening when I moved off beers and on to spirits well before going out.

These days my evening starts in the pub and usually finishes in the pub.

Anyone under ~26 calls it pre-drinking BTW. Say 'pre loader' makes you sound like a forty year old priest and is probably used in the same sentence as "drunken yobs".

No doubt they'll be following suit in the multitude of House Of Commons bars. Don't forget: we're all in this together...

I used to drink quite a bit but have never pre-loaded. The fun part for me was in the getting drunk, not being drunk when you get there. Nowadays i don't drink to get drunk at all, normally 3 or 4 pints and that's it. Pre-loading to me just seems a bit common.

If pre-loading ever involved getting into town and within 30 mins throwing up outside a town centre pub and being on the floor at 7pm on a Saturday evening-then count me in.

Nope don't do it.

If one of our gang does have a few beforehand, it shows as his speech gets slurred early in the pub. Best to all get tipsy at the same time.

Tonight, I ended up popping in to Cask in Middle Street, what was the old Spotted Dog. A vast array of pumps in there now dispensing a huge range of unknown beers. Brace yourself boys, very very pricey, lots if these Beers are £6 and upwards a pint/bottle, one was £12 ! .... preloading IS now the way to go.
