Think we absolutely played in the spirit of the game..and I'm happy about that. Haven't looked at the he Schellotto incident leading to the goal too closely

There were a few occasions when I didn't feel Spurs played in the spirit of the game..
Not so happy about that.

...and don't think VAR should be used with any less force in favour of a team that doesn't exaggerate offences..something it needs to catch up on

I agree with those saying that this is coming from the manager.

I reckon he's told them not to get involved in co-ordinated appeals, haranguing refs etc and keep the focus on the task in hand.

I agree with the sentiment. If I wanted to watch a team, full of petulant, dirty, cheating w********, trading in their dignity, honour and credibility to con a ref, i'd go up the road and watch Palace.

Some of these Warnock type teams, must spend a significant amount of their time in training perfecting their nefarious ways. We spend ours perfecting our passing triangles. Time well spent in the long run. Some games, we'll drop points because, for example, Montoya at Palace doesn't appeal for a pen. But some we'll win, like at Arsenal, because we knock it around beautifully.

That ref was the epitome of inconsistent. Booked Burn for a slightly shoulder barge but didn't book one of our other players five minutes later for absolutely scything down a Spurs player in the same spot.

It's a conspiracy.

Oh, hang on.

No, no it isn't

I have some wipes you can have. Tremendously absorbent.

Andone was stupid against Southampton, but I loved his aggression on the pitch and I'm sure that we would have scored more goals this season with him as an option. I accept he was probably a disruptive influence off the field but until he was sold I was totally unaware of it. Everybody I know loved his attitude too, now he's spoken of as if he ran around the pitch like a Tasmanian Devil. (and that's only half true.:lolol:)

He wanted to play elsewhere and made sure that happened.

Completely agree, Winks tackle today was exactly the same as Mooy on Grealish. Also noted players like Bernardo starting on their feet when getting manhandled, they need to go down more. Connolly is good at that

I know. I'm just saying that if he was still with us without the disruption that I was unaware of, I think we would be higher in the table. Until his dispute became known, everyone liked his attitude ON the pitch. He's portrayed now as if he was an absolute liability and I don't think he was. Maupay is similar in attitude and I like it. Maybe I am over-waffling an obvious point. :lolol:

Perhaps I’m the only one, but I found his attitude on the pitch frustrating. In 3/4 of appearances lazy, when a sub outrun by team-mates who’d started. Love his CP goal though, a special moment.

I was the opposite end to the Winks second so didn't see it but could VAR not have unofficially stepped in. Nudge in the ear of the ref maybe?
Also, watching Mourinho he would 'chase' either the lino or 4th official after every incident and get in their ear all the game. Does it work and make them feel sorry for the 'great one'?
As for staying down, I think the penalty given via VAR V Everton wouldn't even have been checked had Connolly not stayed down.

I think the Winks challenge was definitely a case of the big club getting the easier decision. Put yourself in the ref's shoes.... imagine the shit you face for sending off a player in a Mourinho team if they then go on to lose. It's just safer to keep the card in the pocket, sadly. At least VAR can spare us from the real shockers and level the playing field a little, for all the faults in its implementation so far. I don't think they can give 'little nudges' as that would undermine the whole system.

Winks so lucky not to be sent off, but Deli Ali's challenge was disgraceful and dangerous. Can't remember if he got booked for it even, but was horrible from a player who has a horrible side to him right in front of the benches. I don't believe referees go out to favour a team but they are humans and are open to pressure/influence like everybody else and the other way around would have had crowd, manager, coaching staff, substitutes and players all up in arms etc.. I think right now, GP has it engrained in the team that they must focus on themselves and their own performances, blaming flash-points like this detracts from our own accountabilities - noble, valuable approach when trying to secure new ways of playing, performance-based culture etc. but gets tested when on the back of poor decisions.

If it was deemed that bad VAR would have done the business hopefully.
I thought Ali was a definite card but as you only had one chance of seeing it at the game live you hope that VAR would dish out some justice
