So Matt Richards is back until Christmas at least. Virgo has signed. McLeod is on the books along with Hawkins and Livermore.

So are we ready for the new season? Do we still need new players? there were rumours of Murray being unhappy, do we have enough cover up front even if he stays? Are we still due to get the "big signings" that have been referred to on NSC? Or have we done enough to bolster the squad and push hard for promotion? Currie has gone to Cheaterfield - does that leave us short of a quality crosser from the left?

Views?

We need a striker to bring off the bench, and we need one more midfielder who will push Thomson/Cox for a place.

I still can't help but think we'll need a keeper at some point as well.

I would say yes.But as the season where's on we might fall a bit short in cover. The midfield needs another man to bolster it.Other then that i'll say we are ready. There's always the loan market if we need to draft someone in.Be nice to get another forward.

I believe the 'rumour' about Murray is baseless.

If he does go, then we are in serious trouble with the current squad.

I don't think Forster will be as impressive with his goal tally as last season.

agreed - he will not be able to play every game, as the end of last season showed, and as age takes its toll then he will in theory be less effective next season

murray is in all likelihood going to be the main man in terms of getting goals goes next season, and if he is unsettled and it transfers to the pitch then we could be in a bit of trouble with regards to getting goals. especially when our back up is either untested at this level, or has looked wank in general

I'd like to say we are OK up front but I am not sure. Why are we keeping a whole batch of strikers like Robinson, Dixon , Gargan and Gatting if we don't think they are going to challenge Murray and Forster...... one must think Adams must feel confident there. Not sure about midfield as this MAY be Loft's season (how many times have I said this?) and we have Fraser who is a pretty good back up... at least he wasn't too bad last year. However one more would do..
The wings are fine and so is the defence now. Still unsure about Sullivan /Kuipers. Sullivan has to shine over the next two weeks or this will become a priority. We cannot rely on Kuipers for the whole season!

We definitely need a covering left back who isn't as good as he was a few years ago and wasn't that good then anyway and a player who has never recovered from a horrific injury that can play anywhere down the right but not very well and not for 90 minutes and that has a penchant for red cards.

DEFINITELY.

Another midfielder as with injuries / suspensions the back up quality isn't top 6.

Same goes for up front , although I think we could get by with Virgo / or the number of other forwards we have.

I think Forster will be ok + as mentioned the Murray rumours are simply that

Definitely need a striker. Goals win you games, and Murray is the only man I'm confident will score more than 15 goals next season. We need someone else to make a contribution of, say, 10, as well as the 12 I expect Forster to provide.

In midfield, I still think we need someone creative. A huge problem with our team over the last few years has been creative supply from midfield. Livermore sounds decent, but he doesn't sound like he'll offer much for the forwards to work with. Whether it's wide or central, we still need someone else there.

I think we need the cover in the centre of midfield the wings are far better covered

I think we need a right-sided attacking midfielder and a striker to bring off the bench. Sullivan will do the backup job well enough, or we could always bring in a loan for that position

We don't definitely need another striker. All we need is a bit of luck with injuries and for one of the other forwards like Gargan to shine.Crewe took the chance with there youngster Maynard,Vokes for the Cherries and they both never looked back.

We need one of those pacey black strikers than Orient always seem to have that are shithouse most of the time but can come on and run rings around tiring defences. Like that one Warsaw had last year and that.

A big black beast would suit me fine. They don't have to be skilful (let's face it, it's not a requirement in league one), they just have to be effective in 20 minutes at the end of matches.
