We took 15 points from our first 39 last season (and 7 from our first 15). We still made the play offs.

Just putting this out there.

Absolutely. Finishing the season well can counteract a poor start so alarm bells shouldn't be ringing unless of course we have zero points going into September!

Buddy calm down, over half the teams are not ready for the season, and some are in a far worse situation like Blackpool. Go look on other forums fans moaning exactly the same.

Good to see some common sense in this panicky thread. When will some of the posters on NSC realise the game changer that FFP is? It is even more important now to get VFM, FFP limit for 14/15 goes down to £5m and we are actually in that financial year NOW.

I don't care what Blackpool are doing!? Comparing us to them shows your aspiration.

No I'm not happy either. Oh well at least we have a shiny new training complex (with such a splendid rating) so that in 4yrs time in front of 12K ST holders and those that just trundle up to pay on the gate, we MIGHT have a chance of being READY at the start of league one season!
Pay on the gate in four year's time? Yeh! - bring it on, please!

I'm sorry. I know we can't all sit on here all day and night attacking other people, so my post count is low and that makes me a FAKE FAN, but the fact that you lot don't seem to take 15 points that we aren't going to be able to compete for as readily with a depleted squad seriously is madness. We're not READY for the season, SH literally just said that and NSC are attacking me for thinking that's a bad thing, instead of questioning why we aren't ready.

Also why will I crawl away if we do well? I'll be delighted. What a moronic thing to say :lolol:

you are right my friend . people on here dont get we play one ninth of our games in Augest , that is a big chunk of the season

There were a couple of great opportunities to put teams to the sword at the start of the season. We didn't take them and ended up squeezing into playoffs on the last day of the normal season.

I'd hate to see us in PO spots again. Automatic promotion only thanks.

Ive said it all along that getting the best deals for the best players could be pivoting to our success this year. Imagine a scenario in January were our shrewd spending over the summer helps us bring in that extra bit of quality for the second half of the season. Nobody wants another obika or lita because we've already spunked all our money away.

What I am concerned with is our ability to identify and acquire the right players. So, I guess I agree with what the club are doing but not necessarily the people doing it.

The situation we find ourselves in, along with many other clubs, is created by the fact that the window doesn't close for 4 weeks after the season has started. If it closed on The Fridsy before the season started, as Poyet always argued, everyone would be in a better
position.

Are we happy about the club giving the rest of the league a potential 5 game ...

I'm lucky to be alive, I fell asleep on the sofa and it was the evening of the fans forum in August. I've only just woken up and am dismayed we lost the first 5 games. I'm also pizzed off that no one tried to wake me up.

It is just a shame that:
- The transfer window is only extended for us - it is different for all other clubs
- The world cup only affected us - apparently it didn't really happen for any other team.

It is a shame we have been unable to reinforce our squad with a exciting prospect from Switzerland, an experienced International Centre Half. It is a shame we haven't got someone who has scored well in the last 2 seasons in a poor team at something of a snip. It is also a shame we couldn't get an England rated young goalkeeper who seems a huge character.

It is a real shame that Blackpool's training facilities are better than ours.

The only positive, as I see it, is that we have a real cohort of intelligent, insightful optimistic fans who express their considered views based upon their broad experience of running businesses, managing large teams and also running football clubs.

It is a little concerning and disappointing, especially as we are seemingly unable to close deals despite having recouped some £11 million in player sales since January. With the likes of Kuszczak and Upson leaving, I'd also suspect that the wage bill has gone down considerably, freeing up further resources.

15 points could be the difference between mid-table and playoffs, or playoffs and automatic promotion. The number of times players are "set" (copyright the press) to join us and then don't for whatever reason is surprising, to say the least.

Even with 3-4 signings, we're not a top 2 side; lets be realistic. For this reason, it doesn't matter too much that we play the first 5 games with a weaker squad if it results in us getting the right players in for the majority (and the sharp end) of the season.
