Ashworth said at a recent Seagulls over London event that the club don't like taking any players on loan these days. Words to the effect that 'we take them, develop them, and pass them back to the parent club a better and more valuable player'.

He didn't rule it out completely, but did say it wasn't a part of our strategy.

Good example. And Mr Bloom is not in the habit of developing players for the profit of others if he can do it himself, way to smart an operator for that.

Loans are more for a 'lack of something better' type of situation, but they are avoided with foresight and planning.

This is the key point.

Tony Bloom's strategy is to use the EPL increased revenue to generate profits,
The extra cash funds an industry of player development.
We have seen plenty of examples of buying and selling players who will most likely never play in the PL, but will generate profit.

We seem to have missed step 4 of the strategy.

Whine and moan about the parent club not selling the player to us, confirm that we "made" the player despite having him for approx. 15% of his career.

This is still seemingly the strategy it appears for Norwich (Billy Gilmour), Palace (Batshuayi), Newcastle (Willock), Villa (Barkley) and so on.

I don’t see us taking on a player to develop. However I can see us doing a loan to buy deal.

It's possible, but unlikely. Some are jumping to the conclusion that we'd be loaning a player to develop them for someone else - not so. Any loan would not be a youngster, more of a Welbeck or Lallana type player, experienced and high quality, but unlike those two, one that might not be accessible to us to buy.

The only exception I could possibly see were if an elite player needed first team football until the end of the season yet the club didn’t want to sell. Eg, a Tammy Abraham…

Seems quite unlikely but you never know.

To me, the biggest danger of taking loan players is the messaging to our young players, within the club and to prospective signings.

Players like Moder, Lamptey, Khadra are joining us because we're convincing them there is a pathway to top level football there. Not sure we want to dilute that message by denying them game time to improve a Chelsea prospect.

The only exception is occasionally you get a situation like Willock where you can get someone in to see your club and it increases your chances (though doesn't guarantee) of signing a decent player.

The most recent loan signing was Jack Wakely, last season.

I voted no, by mistake, when I meant yes.
It's a qualified yes though. Provided we remain in the PL and Bloom continues with the current strategy, it's a yes.

Dan Ashworth said in a Q&A a couple of months ago that the strategy of the club is to develop their own players, not the players of other teams and then returning them. Aaron Mooy was different in that there was a buy-option though he implied that even in that case it wasn't ideal.

Think that's about a clear an answer that the club could give.

TL;DR - According to our Technical Director, Yes, we are done with loans
