Agree with this that we are both currently and not planning to contravene any FPP rules and are therefor not cheats.

'Football morals' is a bit of a slippery slope though - He was entitled to go down - Taking one for the team etc etc ???

I agree, however I was commenting on those that are quick to criticise other football clubs whilst not being self criticle of a £20 million loss which has a similar dynamic than those contravening FFP rule's ( accepting the difference being that we are not ).

The whole of football is unsustainable and corrupt, but if we are going to live in that world, all we can hope for is to do the right thing within the rules which, because of TB, we can do. (I don't know, but suspect that those who failed FPP will have tried to minimise FPP losses and would have actually had far greater gross losses).

Revere him? Did you really mean revere? Respect for him is a better way of phrasing it. Respecting his qualifications.

This is a big problem today, a problem with Brexit, a problem with ther Jeremy Vine show, etc. Everyone has to have their say and it's given equal weighting regardless of knowledge.

Although we are not, by all accounts contravening FFP rule's, we are still using losses to fund our team and the clubs infrastructure, even if we all accept that those losses are reasonably covered, it's currently not a sustainable business model and it certainly doesnt make us any more 'football moral' than many others.

Total losses in the Championship last season are set to be in the region of £300 million.

The problem arises due to the gulf in TV money between the PL and the Championship.

If clubs in the Championship ran a breakeven model it would allow small clubs in the PL (let us take Crystal Palace as an example) to cherry pick any player they wanted.

When Palace came in for Dunk this summer, the Albion responded by giving him a pay rise, which narrowed the gap between what the Croydon Hillbillies were prepared to pay him. We've done similar for other bids for players, but it does mean that clubs will run at a loss.

It's not an economic model that makes sense, unless you factor in the rewards of promotion, which are a minimum of £180 million.

Fully understand your point about morality, but there are lots of immoral issues in sport.

So, let me understand you, we are under the FFP model but attempting to reap the rewards? Where will we be in Nov 2017 if we don't go up?

So by your logic, people who do 68 miles an hour in a 70 limit can't criticise people doing 90 because they are going fast and close to the limit?

Depends if they are in 4th gear about to put their foot down to catch up or not,i assume.

WTF are you on about?

A lot of people on here are probably saying exactly the same thing about your posts on this subject.
Nearly ever club in Engand runs at a loss...its the nature of the business.

It's so much easier to admit that you are wrong/don't understand sometimes, unfortunately a lot of people are completely averse to doing this, including the OP!
