We've bought Mwepu, had agreed terms for Gonzalez and are seemingly chasing this young ex-Barcelona lad. Unless Tony popped down to the cash machine this morning and found out he's overdrawn, I reckon this is little more than a standard trimming of the squad, shipping out the dead wood.

Who’s this young ex Barca lad, may have missed this one?

In the interests of balance and fairness I'm going to speak up for the OP.

Hang on.....
Let me have a good think about this....
There must be something . . . .
And....

No. Ludicrous thread. I'm out.

We lost £67 m on the balance sheet for tax purposes. Suggest you and many others need to understand how profit and loss accounts work. Yes we took a loan so Tony didn’t have use his own money as the loan was free in interest, so why wouldn’t you?

???

Seems to be a bit of a fire sale going on this summer, with the club desperate to get players off the books....

We took a £37m loan out recently and the Amex expansion has been postponed. Bloom’s key businesses was said to be commercial property and sports gambling both of which have been hit very hard by COVID

Everyone knows we lost a whopping £67m last season, are we in a bit of trouble?

Potter wants a squad of around 20 players to pick from, not 40.

Simples.

With just over 200 posts in 16yrs and a iffy username to boot just makes me think this is a Palarse fan on a wind up

In reality, if the club had real financial concerns we'd just flog our best assets for a combined £200m or so and promote a number of the u23s into the first team.
That could be pretty much what we are doing (only £100M, not 200) of offers fr Biss and White are accepted and acceptable - but not because we're broke, but because it's policy to develop, sell on and promote youth when they're ready.

Personally, I find this far more interesting and exciting than going out and spending £50M on some 'PL experienced' Gary Goals on a £150K per week contract.

We're in awful trouble.

If only we had Steve Parish, Simon Jordan or Mark Goldberg to turn this around.

We have 10 players that have gone now some on loan but it makes interesting reading .

Good business so far. Just need to get Tau and Jahanbakhsh off the books (oh, and Duffy - I'd forgotten about him), and find a new home for Walton. and find five or six good loan moves for some of our younger players and it will be a good window, especially if we manage to break that £50M barrier on a player sale.

Trimming a squad that has players on £2m a year that are hardly ever going to play in the first team is a sensible thing to do . Brighton have quite a large squad . This doesn’t mean the club are broke , far from it , it’s just the sensible thing to do .
