The charge relates to comments made to referee Graham Poll during Rovers' 1-0 home victory over Tottenham on November 29.

Souness was furious after substitute Steven Reid appeared to be fouled by Stephen Carr but did not win a free-kick early in the second half.

"I said to Mr Poll, 'I didn't know you were a Tottenham supporter", "and he's taken exception to that?" Souness said at the time.

I reckon what he's not telling us is that he followed up his Tottenham supporter comment with "ya ****", and that's probably why he's getting done.

To say something like that to a ref is pathetic and childish, and I think the FA are spot on to charge him.

Souness should grow up and realise that you get some decisions and you don't get others, and they have a funny way of evening out over a season. He's hardly the best person to go ranting about dirty tackles on his players is he?

Souness is simply passionate about what he does. It seems that you can't say a single thing to the referee these days. Ref's have a school master type attitude that stinks, and the FA certainly don't help.

Souness is a generally unsympathetic character, but this is a bit harsh. He could have said that to a lot of referees and they would have told him to sit down and shut up. Sadly for him he's inflicted his rather weak joke on a thin-skinned ego maniac.
