I know some will point out to the revord levels of goals, chances created, slick 30 pass moves and all round awesomeness of what we‘ve seen under RDZ, but there’s no LUMPING IT aimlessly from the keeper this season and frankly, it’s not good enough.

We certainly need to get it in the mixer more and stop this pissing around at the back, passing in triangles doesn't score goals - I'm suprised there hasn't been an RDZ in or OUT poll, a shocking stat

Strange though that this phenomenon negatively affects Sheffield Utd and not Brighton….
Oh, I thought Van Hecke was booked on Saturday for time wasting taking a goal kick in the 24th minute? Managing the rest of the game against Rashford and co, was more difficult than it needed to be. What is this going to look like later in the season if we start picking up suspensions to key players for trying to set up a goal kick?

I meant over the course of the season ? How many bookings have we had for time wasting given the amount of short kicks we take compared to other teams ? How are you going to penalize time wasting if you give exemptions? How do you think Fulham and Aston Villa would use such an exemption ? Van Hecke was booked correctly and needs to just get on with it just like with all of our other kicks in that game which were fine and not penalized. So it can be done playing our style. It’s not even necessary to change the rules. Arsenal should have been penalized for their corners at Everton. The rule is already in place and yet the ref only gave 4 minutes of injury time at the end. He made a mistake.

Was it not for kicking a second ball away?

Should I go away and count them for you? I am not advocating a change in the rules, just some consistency around the way they are applied. What else should footballers just get on with? Take corners before the centre backs have arrived in the opposition area, throw the ball in to a player rolling on the ground, who should really have got up by now in your view. Checking how the opposition are setting up before taking a short goal kick, is not by default time wasting.

No, I didn’t ask you to count anything. I was just trying to have a conversation with you but every time you reply to anything you sound like Basil Fawlty but not as amusing.

The process for a hoof up field involves the keeper placing the ball, cleaning his studs and then waving all the players upfield. It isn't deemed time wasting to get your players in position for a hopeful flick on, so why should it be time wasting to set your team up to play through the press?
I have not seen the booking - so my view is not clouded by actual events (let alone FA Cup glory). I just do not see why a team taking a goal kick has to wait to see how the opposition are setting up their press. I understood the manager to say that if they set up in one way, then another, the defending team had to adjust and re-adjust then that should all be waited for.. What about a third adjustment ? Nah. If you want to play out from the back please do - but do not expect special treatment. If you can't play it - hoof it.

Basil Fawlty was quite amusing of its time. Cleese is just a grumpy old git, but fair put down. I was expressing an opinion, but don't really have the time or inclination to develop a full blown thesis sorry.

Nor have I due to technical difficulties at the precise time. Apparently it was kicking a second ball away, never mind.

Sounds like there was an excellent turn out at the Shooting Field, even if the giant killing was a step too far.

How does that stat account for the initial short pass by the keeper, a few exchanges between the CBs and then a longer ball by the keeper ? We do that a reasonable amount

I owe you an apology. This comedic device was stolen from the pages of Private Eye. If you are unfamiliar with it, it may seem odd. I refer you to my strapline
