[Albion] Are Teams Finding Lamptey Out?

The truth is that Tariq would benefit from the ball getting to him quicker. Time and time again the ball was played by Dunk into Veltman or Bissouma and then onto Lamptey. The ideal would be for it to go straight to Lamptey.

I don't say this sarcastically. There were many moments when Lamptey was open and available but for some reason our defensive player feel it benefits us more to make that 1 extra pass. I think it signifies the desire to over play and its lack of effectiveness.

Agreed, l think that willingness to attempt one extra pass, has been our bette noir for some considerable time now. It's true all ovr the pitch not just in defence.

Indeed when it comes to attempts on goal we seem all too keen in trying to make the one extra pass, rather than trying a shot. All to expected l suppose when out strikers are so short on confidence, but l don't think it's just that, it's the way that we are coached too.

Either way it's a problem that we need to try and overcome. If you don't shoot you don't score . . . simples.

When you play March down the same wing as lamptey, then there will be a problem.

In the second half, when lamptey was getting the crosses in, it looked like he was the only one who could cross the ball!

People know I am not trossards biggest fan, but seriously, what did he actually do on Saturday! I would have taken him off at half time and brought on Caciado (sp) …he at least would have given it a go.

Agree Trossard wasnt good... but at the same time, not sure if you really want to take him off when the team is chasing a goal. Trossard is one of very few Brighton players who has the individual ability to create something out of nothing. He can be almost invisible for a long time and then do something brilliant.

Generally speaking, and it was the same thing last season, I think the team is a little bit too dependent on Trossard having a good game (which he certainly does not have every week). When he is good, Brighton usually win and when he is bad, there's a lack of a real threat. Plenty of good team players (in defense and attack) in Brighton but not a lot of individual skill.

As I see it getting another/different Trossard is the biggest priority in the summer. More important than getting a new striker. Today there are no real options.. and with Trossard somewhat likely to leave in the summer, I'd like to see a new (hopefully more consistent) signing in that role, as well as bringing back Khadra to have a good option.
