Mental illness is of course a complex issue, but to politicise schizophrenics killing themselves does you no favours and by the way I love the way you self appoint yourself as some uber caring demi god, inferring that we do not care, it is just another example of your arrogance.

There are challenges of course for everyone its the inevitable dynamic of a free and aspirational country, but your family could do with a bit of a spring in their step, be careful not to look like a bunch of privileged whingers ........

We are generally as a whole a pretty happy family. But when the Government of the day seems intent on destroying everything you hold dear and have worked for all your life, then it is not just whingeing. My wife is the principal of an educational institution locally. Her life has been a constant battle for about the last three years. The College is doing very well in terms of raising standards and getting the best out of less able youngsters in the area - and doing pretty well with the more capable ones as well. But the system is constantly working against them because of "market forces", in terms of people going to other more "successful" colleges outside the City, which will soak up all the brighter kids, but drop them like a hot brick once there might be any problems. An institution which actually cares about its clientele (wrong word, but....) and its community sometimes pays the price.

And we will survive, to misquote Gloria Gaynor. And sometimes it can be strangely fulfilling challenging what you think is wrong....... because it matters. Having said that, I would also be the first to acknowledge that, if the result last Thursday had ended with an absolute Labour majority, then a lot of people would have had real concerns in the other direction.

I am a preacher in the Methodist Church, and on SundaY I was preaching saying that people of faith should be involved in and interested in the democratic process. Afterwards a friend of mine, who has been involved seriously in politics in the past as a conservative, told me he had decided to get involved in politics again to combat UKIP. That's a long way from my own political beliefs, but I would still consider it a result. I would rather people be involved - thoughtfully - rather than not involved at all.

And incidentally, I would not describe myself as a Socialist. Left leaning, yes, but probably more of a Social democrat.

Well, judging by all the whingeing and blaming all the woes of the country on the evil Tories and their supporters,I would say..............Yes.
Get your own party to be an effective political force again, if you want power, and stop bleating on like naughty children saying 'it's not fair', when they don't get their own way.
Not everyone agrees with you and I am sure plenty of Tory voters are heartily sick and tired of being called selfish and uncaring by a number of smug,righteous, self-satisfied Lefties.(I am not calling all Lefties,this!)
Does it ever enter your heads that many people in this country did not consider Miliband to be PM material,did not agree with his policies and did not want a weak man leading the country, being supported by a party that wants to see the UK split up?
