Without going over old ground he fell out with Barry Lloyd over the signing of the agreement to build on Beeding for which the plans and finance were at a very advanced stage, whether we like it or not and the the cynics say it wouldn't and couldn't have happened. Getting full planning permission and FL approval was a formality. I dont however wish to go into this any more as we have moved on and should thank our lucky stars for this.

All of the above reads like a statement of fact which I am sure it is far from. Firstly, from my knowledge Barry Lloyd was neither or shareholder nor a main board director therefore had no more power in stadium ventures than Gus does now. Secondly there was never a planning application submitted for Beeding.

As I stated above I believe it is essential "to go over old ground" to ensure that history tells the true story

I always thought that Greg Stanley, with his high interest bearing loans to the club, was far more evil than Bill Archer.

They were both in it for personal gain. It's impossible to say whose intentions were more nefarious. Equally guilty, M'lud!

i'm kind of too young for all this, but am very interested......can someone briefly outline greg stanley's role in our downfall please?

Indeed , it was Stanley who signed the changes to the Articles of Association at a club EGM on 23rd November 1993. Stanley made a £600k loan to the club and received £45k a year in interest payments. Definitely something dodgy occurred when a quarterly payment deadline (roughly £11,250) was missed and a £250k penalty clause in the loan agreement invoked. We'll never know for sure if BA told DB not to make the interest payment and give GS a nice little earner.
