The first year that I physically started going to watch football at Fir Park Motherwell. The two teams which came up from the old Second Division when the First Division was a 16 team League were Arbroath and Dumbarton.

I think Arbroath went down the following year when the Scottish Premier League was formed and the Top Division was cut to just the top ten teams.

Arbroath are my second favourite team in Scotland because we used to go on caravan holidays there as a kid.

You used to be able to go to the outdoor swimming pool and watch matches from behind the goal though a full length floor to ceiling glass window

Some of the pictures of that stadium are quite stunning. The one below being the pick of the bunch. I usually only stop by to laugh at Scottish football but I will keep an eye as this has piqued my interest.

Apologies in advance for going all nerdy but Solihull Moors isn't the greatest comparison. They've been bankrolled in recent years - they are always the value for the National league on a betting front but never come in - and the club is in a hugely afluent area. The locals pronounce it So Leigh Hull and are all stuck up their own arses. When they inevitably get promoted it will have all the associated romance of Salford City or Bournemouth.

On the bright side, one of the nearest drinking establishment to the ground is a casino.

To give you an example of the energy of Solihull Moors [MENTION=232]Simster[/MENTION] one of the local cricket clubs to the ground is Knowle and Dorridge (K&D). They play in the Birmingham Premier League where you are allowed one overseas player. K&D have properly taken the piss this year and signed Carlos Braithwaite to play village cricket.

At our less affluent volunteer to run the bar type club we found it in no way amusing that he got out for a duck, K&D got beat and he had his car nicked to boot.

I'm with you!! My "Scottish Team" is also Queen of the South!! No reason other than as a child of 5 (I am now 53!) , we visited Dumfries for the day (been staying in the Lake District) to visit some distant relatives and walked past the ground. Never been back since but it's on my bucket list to go and watch them at some point!

I’ve been past that ground a few times and thought how cold it must be watching footie there in Winter. It must make Stoke feel like the Caribbean.

It wouldn't take too much coastal erosion to lose half of their pitch and the stand with it.

Being a fan of nearby Montrose Nil FC, or at least looking out for their results, you will forgive me for not getting excited if they miss out on promotion.

A bit like the Albion and Palarse really, but on a far smaller scale of course.
