i for one stood and clapped Steve and would do again, for me, in my era of watching football, he has been without doubt one the greatest talents we have produced and I have never seen him play live and was chuffed to buggery that I saw him tonight. His words after the game about Brighton and Nooney on Sky Sports has just enhanced the reasons why I like him and I hope he stays injury free and makes a return to England very soon.

Every team's done that this season. Let's not roll out the old myth about Liverpool fans somehow being different and special again.

Not sure about special tbh, but they are the only English fans that have seen their team win the European Cup 5 times, which I would argue makes them different purely in football heritage terms ???

I agree completely with the OP. Absolutely ridiculous. Who cares if he is/was England's captain, this was Brighton v Liverpool, not England v Germany.......I honestly couldn't believe it and when the clapping had stopped I shouted PLASTICS!

Stop making yourself look a dick mate.........can't believe the mentality of some of our supporters.

I agree with you otk, Also at the end when Noone applauded them, a lot of them clapped him back and seemed to appreciate how good a game he had. I respect Liverpool fans, as they don't seem to bother with having a pop at the opposition, but sing for their own boys. I thought the rendition of The fields of Anfield Road was class. Whilst we are on the subject, am I the only one who thinks that the North Stand giving their GK the whooooaaa your shit ha ha, makes us sound like a tin pot outfit?[/QUOTE]

Nope I cringed everytime theres a goal kick, its what happens at non league grounds.

Show him respect off the field when warming up, as he deserves it but then crucify him on the field, as that is the battleground, then again show respect after if warranted.

That's the sign of good support....

And while we are on that subject, the Chant "get into them...f*** em up" is another that I cringe at...what a wank song, again makes us look very tin pot

It was great to see the Liverpool fans applauding when the crowd figure was read out. Say what you like about them, they are football through and through, with a heritage to only dream about

First things first, don't know about you lot but i went to the stadium tonight to watch the team i support - Brighton and Hove Albion.

Why on earth would I applaud Steven Gerrard? Yeah yeah he's played for England and all that but how on earth does he deserve a clap from fans of the opposition club?

Made us look like a right tin-pot club just because now we have international players playing at the AMEX. It was f***ing embarrassing.

I follow England home and away and did not applaud him

He dibs out of England games at the drop of a hat.

I would have stood and loudly applauded Beckham but Gerrard no.

I know (although don't understand why) that i'll be in the minority here but, Applauding away team players?!! I couldn't believe what I was seeing, Steve G warming up, West stand lower Applauded. Steve G comes onto the pitch and the whole ground Applauded.

I personally think he's a great player, for the pool and for England, probably the best over the last 10 years. But, do we really need to be Applauding him? We're supposed to be in battle, he's the enemy!! Whats next, Applauding when he scores against us?! Letting him have a little go on your missus!! Bloody hell!!!!

I'm not suggesting we boo but should we really be making the effort to Applaud?

Applauded for being an England Legend,:dunce: get a life and worry about something important:dunce::albion2::albion2:

What was the applause like for Vicente when he came on?

Sounded immense on the telly. Nothing like the polite little ripple and the odd boo for Gerrard, it goes without saying.
