Job hunting I suppose, wants everyone to know that he was in charge when Villa bought Gareth.

Besides, wasn't Standing the main target for Gregory? That worked out well. :jester:

I was just gonna say the same thing. I recall at the time it was the loss of Standing that every one was more worried about (or at least worried that we'd not get enough money for him). Also, wasn't the money agreed for the pair or were they each individually valued? You could argue that Gregory was ripped off for a player who isn't even playing league football now, and I'd say that's more of a story.

What a prize cock.

Apart from anything else the money we got for Barry and Standing was agreed by a TRIBUNAL, so why blame us? Their offer wasn't good enough and we made a lot more money by fighting the case. Exactly WHY shouldn't we have? I mean it's only a few quid here and there eh? Oh except that NO IT ISN'T just a few quid for us, it's actually a f*** LOAD of money which we DESPERATELY needed.

This article has really aggravated me. Appalling tosh.

I'd like to see some retalitory statements made from Knight but to be honest I don't think Gregory is worth it. He'll be forgotten in a few years whereas DK will be enjoying the praise he's getting for bringing a beautiful new stadium to Sussex.

the million we got......
didn't we waive the 25% sell on clause to get that ?

If he goes for 10m then its a shame , however , you can't see these things coming and all relative I guess

Lawrenson has never hid from the fact he is a Preston lad and fan. He doesn't slag us off, so surely less bitter than Gregory.

The Albion boo boys had it in for Gregory throughout his time here, and he wasn't prepared to take it lying down at the time.

The most fun I've had giving another manager shit was at Derby when we sang, almost constantly, 'GREGORY OUT! GREGORY OUT! GREGORY OUT!'

I can see where he is coming from. Doug Ellis was their chairman at the time and given what a stand up guy he is you can understand why Gregory is bitter at such an honest set up as they had at the time getting stung by the nefarious likes of Brighton and Hove Albion.

I wouldnt recognise Barry if he was stood on Brighton beach with a beachball under his arm, a seagull on his head, holding up a sign saying "Hi, I'm Gareth Barry"
I wouldn't recognise John Gregory if he stood Brighton beach with a copy of his autobiography under his arm, half the world's oil supply on his head, holding up a sign saying "Hi, I'm a slick haired failure merchant"
