The land of chocolate
the pitch was OK to play on that night, but the uncovered South Stand was deemed to dangerous for the sell out crowd to use

It was called off after a late pitch inspection according to a club text sent on the night:

"After reviewing conditions at Withdean a second time, referee Mike Thorpe has decided that the pitch is not safe and the game has been postponed."

But that aside I can't recall many postponements at Withdean in nearly ten years.

Can't believe they're still saying that... Up there on the downs it's probably 3 or 4 degrees cooler than the withdean, we'll have LOADS of matches called off.

It's a bit of false economy by all accounts and leads to it's own problems. You can end with a very wet pitch that will inevitably cut up.

I understand it's actually better to let the pitch defrost naturally for the long term state of the playing surface.

Anyone remember treking all the way up to Carrow Road to discover that switching the under soil heating on had caused the back-up power system to fail?

Match postponed.

I seem to recall it WAS the stands which were the problem, as opposed to the stand. I don't remember a game being called off because of frost on the PITCH for a while.

The away end is going to hold 2,500. I wonder if that can be divided up in cases where we could sell them ourselves?

"Perry and his team have travelled the length and breadth of the country to borrow ideas from the multitude of stadiums built since the Goldstone became the Gonestone. "

Surely Naylor deserves the SACK for this line alone. He is awful.

A similar event happened at Molineux last season.

They turned up the under-soil heating too high, the system tripped out and the pitch froze.

Oops!

PLAYERS The basement of the main (west) stand will include warm-up rooms, gymnasium, a players lounge linked to the dressing room area, facilities for ball boys and boy girls and a laundry, which will make life much easier for kit man Ken Barnard.

looks like we're going to get "lady boys" as well, and I thought it was just Thailand that had them.....
