Sadly, I have SO many but managed to whittle it down to these four away 'beauties'.......

1} Wigan away, I think late 90s? 2-0 down within 20 minutes, everyone knew we had no chance of getting back into the game. Made worse by the fact that for probably the only time in my career I travelled by coach and was stuck there until the end

2) Carlisle away 2004, similar situation in that we were 2-0 down before 30 minutes. We never looked liked scoring, we were pants, and the whole game I was thinking "I've got to drive back after this and it's going to take HOURS!"

3) Canvey Island in the FA Cup after the abysmal defeat. Ducking as the bottles rained down in the streets outside the ground, in a place that needs carpet bombing, thinking "What AM I doing here?!"

4) Palace away 0-5. Enough said. Have boycotted the place every since

The defeat against 9 men Walsall at Withdean is one that is burned into memory for all time. As a general statement, pretty much every ‘home’ game at Gillingham can be lumped in there too, but the 4-0 defeat to Darlington is probably right up there. For more recent times, the 6-0 hammering at Upton Park was a shitshow. 3-0 down after about 15 minutes and one of the few times I’ve considered making a very early exit.

In a reverse, I felt for those Wrexham fans at the Goldstone 96 or 97 who trickled out before halftime, at either 3-0 or 4-0 down.

Millwall at home at the end of the Hyppia regime. Freezing my arse off watching those twats celebrate then try and pick a fight with anyone they could find.

Lost 3 nil at Blackpool, in about 1998ish. Woeful. The approx 100 there had been giving Andy Preece stick for being a Palace reject,m he duly added the third and lapped it up right in front of us.

Also on a Palace theme, the home play off match was one of about 3 times in 35 years i've left before the final whistle. Not listening to those ***** celebrate in our ground.

Walsall at home a good shout. Completely inept

I was there, West Ham being in a higher league didn't have a 1st Round fixture and their mob decided to turn up - the only time I've been petrol bombed!!!

Been to St James` Exeter about 4 times,never seen us bloody win there ! 2 nil nils and 2 1-0 defeats i think .One was a midweek game,i got a bee in my bonnet ,borrowed some money and hitched there and back,heaven knows what time i got home ,decided that is my bogey ground.

On the flipside the Mighty Albion played the first game of the new millenium,12-30 ko i think ,we won 4-2 if memory serves opponents Exeter ,and the first goal scored by Brighton born "Goldenball`s" Darren Freeman.So happy ending.

Mansfield away, possibly Jeff Woods last game. Stuck in a little terrace where you couldn’t see 75% of the pitch, which was possibly a bit of a bonus as the 25% I could see was absolutely tragic.

Wimbledon away when we were having a lovely time in the Young’s pub by the station (Alexandria?) in the dry and warm as it was monsoonal outside. In the open at Plough Lane where the ball was launched into the air at every opportunity as the pitch disappeared below the water table. We were soaked. Alan Cork scored the only goal for the Dons. Nightmare.

Also - Millwall (away) 1966. Unsegregated crowd (at the bloody Den !!) We came back from 0-2 to 2-2. My bobble hat was yanked off my head, I turned round and was punched on the nose. After stemming the bleeding, we conceded a third to complete a wonderful day.

I believe my experience was 87. The year we went up from Div 3 with Sunderland.

Probably losing 5-0 at Crystal Palace, on the plus side I managed to persuade a nice WPC to let me through their cordon so I could walk back to my car, in that respect I was very lucky.
