Sheffield Wednesday were interested in signing him last season but he didn't want to move up North.

Better sort the contract out soon...

A little STAT, highlighted by Naylor, this week.

Dean Hammond has missed ten league games during the course of this, and last, season.

In those games we have W1 D1 L8.

He's NOT important though...

I like it when Naylor writes the facts, and not some of the other tosh he seems to come up with! Anyway...that fact speaks volumes, anyone who says otherwise is foolish! Dean Hammond is our talisman, an ever-present solid midfield player who can hold the shape of the midfield and bang in 10+ goals a season. Not to mention the fact that he is the club captain!!!

We must do all we can to keep him, I just hope DK doesn't stall over a contract and realises he has a player worth keeping, and some!

Football is without doubt a game of opinions.

This thread has NOTHING to do with opinions.

This thread simply highlights those posters that have a GOOD understanding of the game, and those that DON'T.

DEAN HAMMOND IS ESSENTIAL TO THIS TEAM

Hammond WALKED played of the year last season and I took that to mean most Brigton fans appreciated his job in the team.

Perhaps it is the case that most Brighton fans do but some vocal people on NSC make it look like the fans don't.

Has Hammond been offered a new contract yet or is this being left until it is too late again?

think they were in negotations - but may be wrong

if we lose him on a free then i will be serevely GUTTED

ALL the problems we hgad against mansfield were due to the inept idea of playing a right footed centre half at left back agaibst a tricky wide player.

Lynch's total inability to defend againsr the ball being played inside him has nothing to do with Hammond's absence.

and it also proved (as does Naylor's stats that of the 10 games that Hammond missed we won 1 drew 1 and lost 8, is that there is no one at thos club who is good enough to replace him.

Which worries the s**t out of me.

Did you see the Mansfield game. Our midfield was non existant. We were dominated in midfield by the second worst team in the league. When they came forward from the back they made thirty or forty yards before anyone got near them. This put more pressure on our defence and led to mistakes. It has never been that bad with Hammond in the midfield. I think the record mentioned over the last two years when he has been out shows just how important he is.

Also, I thought Lynch is left footed.

i dont think anyone has really been slating him this season - its more a sense of disapointment that he was so good last season, and hasnt really replicated that form this time around - doesnt mean hes been bad though

a) Lynch is LEFT footed.

b) The goals had as much do with the complete LACK of protection from the midfield and the opposition having time and space to play the through balls...

..not to mention the lack of cover from anyone in central defence.

he doesn't he is very left footed, which is why some people want him at left back and why he also plays left of the centre backs
