Although I have a pop at the health nazi's and I think the hounding of smokers is ridiculous now and totally over the top, it's not a healthy habit. How can inhaling 400 body destroying chemicals be good for you ? It is NOT. Anyone with a brain knows this but if people want to smoke knowing this, let them smoke. I am all for freewill. If I do this it's because I have decided to do it not because someone has told me to do it.

how much has rolling tobacco gone up by? i bought a pack of pre-budget golden v yesterday (12.5g, wish i'd gone for 25g but didn't think)

might try and knock it on the head after this pack

maybe we could have a "giving up smoking thread", after all, (in an ironic post-budget way) WE'RE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER

All over the place
I gave up on July 31st last year then went to Spain for the weekend on Oct 28th and started again. (Went cold turkey, cant be arsed with patches etc). Really cant afford to carry on, am pencilling in Monday for my give up date. Really need to change my lifestyle, need to lose a stone or two, do some exercise, and do it for the family who have been going on at me for about 4years to give up. I know I can do it. From my own personal experience, once you're past day 3, it gets easier..........good luck to all..........

Not sure about rolling tobacco but you can be sure it has gone up, a lot.

I smoked 20 + a day for nigh on 40 years then encouraged by a couple of people at work we all took up vaping instead - I haven't had a "proper" fag for 2 months now and can't say that I miss it. Electronic cigarettes worked for me but I admit may not work for others. If anyone is interested there is a "World Vaping Day" event being held tomorrow at a pub in Eastbourne near the station - the Gildredge (spelling ?). There's a shop called The Vapour Trail in the Enterprise Centre next to Eastbourne Railway Station where you can buy equipment, juice etc (and no I'm not connected in any way to this but I have visited it and found it to be a decent place)
Link below to some info - got to be worth a try

Good luck to all giving up and hope you can! at the end of the day its all your choice and i do advise you to read the allen carr book because its worked for some of my mates unlike nicotine patches.

However i wont be giving up the little things in life that i enjoy such as smoking because the government tells me too, instead i shall be going on my annual trip to belgium to stock up on baccy and some quality Belgian lagers to get me through the year. The more smokers are penalised and bullied into quitting with stupid laws such as the display ban the more i shall smoke.

Thought about doing this a few weeks ago. We could have some sort of league table and a forfeit for anyone who buckles under the pressure.

Start it. I am in. 10 left out of 20 and then it's over. I hope.

e-cigs are great, not the same as smoking but a good alternative for those trying to cut down

I will give up for financial reasons mainly. Not because some health police has told me to.

i like this idea....extra incentives as long as everyone is honest, we're all in the same boat remember!

Oh yes, honesty is crucial. I'm just about to pop off to France for a week, so can we wait till I get back, as I'll be getting my Lucky Strike fill over there while I still can. Can't remember the last time I saw a packet in the shops over here.

Good luck with your annual trip to Belgium as they have lowered the allowance quite a lot.

Living in the real world.
Sod it, I will give up on Sunday. Have to get the forest game out the way first.

We need a official stop smoking thread, where people that are giving up can vent their anger!

It'll be cheaper to smoke crack at this rate with the way it's going. Almost two and a half packets for the same price of a rock now.
