Im thinking of doing. I have managed it before, but then restarted. This time around its even harder to do.

Just wondered if anyone else is thinking of giving up, and if so have you picked a day / date to give up?

By Allen Carr's Easy Way To Stop Smoking book. I have no idea how it works but it does. No pangs, withdrawal symptoms, irritability, snacking. I am usually cynical about self-help books but this truly does work. Good luck to you both.

I just stopped. No patches, no nothing. It sounds a bit smug but just thought "I can do this, can't be that difficult". Et voila.

One piece of advice, take it or leave it: NEVER think it's ok to have "just the one". Because soon enough you'll be buying packs of 10s, 20s and just starting again.

i'm gonna get that

Honestly Fred, you'll never spend a better fiver in your life, mate. I have actually forgotten I ever used to be smoker and actually pity people when I see them smoke rather then envy them as did when I tried to quit with willpower. This method is full proof.

Good luck!

Who died after taking up the habit again and was on almost 80 a day when he snuffed it.

That is bullshit. That was just a vicious rumour made up by some cynical hack. His lungs were probably already fcuked when he quit his 100-a-day habit but allowing his clients to smoke during his therapy sessions can't have helped.

i too just stopped. now, im partial to a smoke with a beer and will still have one if im with mates who smoke, but its not an issue if i go out with my non smoking missus. have a pack of 10 in my coat pocket thats been there a couple of weeks. i think the addiction is overrated, or maybe it affects people differently but to some extent i think we get told its hard to give up and people use that as an excuse to fail.

That is part of the problem. People are brainwashed into thinking they are ''giving something up,'' which implies sacrifice, when in fact you are giving up nothing and gaining everything. We are led to believe that smoking relieves stress and it doesn't it actually creates it and the so-called withdrawal symptoms which only actually exist in your head. Think about it fags contain hundreds of chemical irritants.

Your taste buds and sense of smell will come back, you will breathe easier, you sleep better at night and your boners will be extra hard like oak when you stop.

You can get the book from any half decent library. You know it makes sense.

I disagree.

Do you have any proof that he started smoking again, Nibble?

Not that it is relevant anyway. He helped me and God knows how many others stop and that will do for me. It worked for everyone I know. There is nothing to lose from reading this book.
