twitter.com suffered a 'denial of service; this afternoon, aka overloaded server by an apparantly co-ordinated hit..

access and use of the site is still very slow late thurs pm, so it must be serious..

it may just be a coincidence, but my usual ISP went down about the same time- any others affected?

Personally I don't use facebook or any of those sites but find Twitter really useful for keeping up to date with breaking news etc. The Guardian stuff yesterday was an example of how the internet protects freedom of speech and Twitter played a massive part in that.

Twitterers are ok, and are a valid form of interweb expression as LlcoolJ says, the tweets out of Iran were fascinating when the shit was going down there.

Yeah I think a lot of people think it's like Myspace etc.

There's plenty of inane waffling on there but it's also a great way of skimming for useful information from numerous sources.
