If so, is it any good? I was considering picking up a copy on DVD on the way back home from work last night, but the reviews I've read so far have been mixed. Any thoughts?

Its quite good. A bit contrived, but if you like your horrors particularly gruesome then you probably won't be disappointed. One thing I would say though - the acting is quite appalling. Danny Glover is dreadful, and the bloke who plays the doctor chained to the wall in the toilet is laughable - I was wincing for all the wrong reasons when he was on screen.

Its been compared to Seven, but it's nowhere near as good as that - Seven is, in my opinion, an absolute masterpiece. Saw is better than most, but not as good as some.

Beat me to it Wozza. Looks like we have exactly the same opinion.

This film is worth seeing purely for the fact that it contains some of the worst acting ever seen in a 'cinema released' movie.

Cary Elwes takes things to a new level of awfulness. I found myself physically cringing with embarrassment whilst watching.

BTW what does o/\o mean?

I think its two people facing each other doing a "high five" (in agreement).

Either that, or Wozza's called me a tosser in code.

I quite liked it - it was a bit different what you normally get from 'scary' movies. They did make no attempt to hide their us of every old trick in the book, but I think it kind of worked.
