Anyone remember much about the 1974/75 season?

Seems to be bit of a forgotten season in Albion's history. It's not helped by the fact there doesn't seem to be any Albion-related colour photography around for that season. Which leads me to ask:

What colour was the trim on this kit?

Dark blue? Royal blue? Was the manufacturer's logo white or yellow with blue outline? I hope someone can remember.

It was Peter Taylor's first season in sole charge of the Albion, making massive changes to the squad, and yet the club finished in exactly the same position as the previous season (19th in Division Three).

If you were around at the time, what did you make of Peter Taylor as a manager and did you think he was on the right track to building a promotion side at the time?

Thank you. I'm currently putting some bits and pieces about this season for the Seagulls TV website and would appreciate thoughts of fans who were watching the Albion back then...

Only video footage I could find of the time - the Leatherhead game

74/75 mm...... I have difficulty remembering last season. I think it was white, light blue collar, same for Admiral. Light blue shorts. We thought he was trying to copy Cloughie at Leeds!
Non of this is necessarily correct.

I was standing right behind the line of the bobbling shot in the south stand. It was one of the most over rated goals in cup upset history

Season started oiff with the Palace game which we won 1-0 with 26,235 in the Goldstone.

The 0-4 home defeat by Preston NE was crucial. Gary Williams stood out but I did not spot Mark Lawrenson. Star players were Fred Binney and Tony Towner. Peter O'Sullivan wasn't so good back then. Home form was good for a team near the bottom of the table. Boxing Day we were in the relegation zone.

But Brian Clough had lit the fuse. Peter O'Sullivan and Tony Towner were the only survivors. Gates had still not kicked off. The recession was hitting. 13,000+ against champions Blackburn, but the away game was under 6,000.

The dull part of the south coast
From what I remember of an unmemorable season (1974/75) :

Albion played in all white kit with blue collar, two blue hoops on top of socks, Admiral logo on right side of shirt.

Peter Taylor "banned" players from the ground if they were not performing.

We beat Palace 1-0 in opening game of the season at the Goldstone, I think Ian Mellor scored.

Lost 1-0 to Leatherhead, at home, in FA Cup.

Average home gate was 10,000 +.

That's it!

I should remember this season because I was 16 that march and had to pay adult entry price, I remember a copper pulling me out of the kids que and sending me down to the adult entrance. Remember invading the pitch after the game that was allowed.
Happy times

I was living/working in Zambia 73/4/5 and have only reports from mates to go on. Luckily missed the 8-2 and 4-1 home defeats but missed the excitement of the Clough era.

One thing I remember about Jim Walker he used to wear odd boots and was therefore nicknamed "Boots". He was a pretty useless player and ended up as a phsyio at Villa.

Although we only finished just above the relegation zone our home form was pretty decent and we only lost 2 games at the Goldstone. And of course we beat Palace in the opening game.

Peter Taylor changed our kit to the all white one as he'd done at Leeds because he admired Real Madrid - we obviously didn't emulate them and it only lasted the one season.

I remember Lawro playing for Preston the following season, the 74/75 match was notable for crowd of 16k, many attracted by appearance in midfield of player manager Bobby Charlton.

Results for the season, and all others, are at Latest Brighton Results, Fixtures Betting Odds | Soccer Base

Leatherhead match had echoes of Walton and Hersham, at least there was only one goal.

First game I ever saw brighton play, the palace game. Also remember the Preston game....wasn't that the bobby Carlton game?
