Now that the wheat has been separated from the chaff, what other stories have made you happy, in recent years?
That was the general idea of this post - to alleviate the general (albeit warranted) malaise of modern life.

Oh for those those halcyon days of the three day week, being told to share baths and having to find things to do in the dark to keep warm during the power cuts........ we'll never see their like again! :(

Now that the distractions have disappeared, please furnish us (and me, particularly) with News that made you filled with the human spirit of goodness, kindness or just plain awesomeness.
There needs to be balance...always.

As a society I haven't seen much good news apart from most of us pulling together as a whole during Covid. I was the recipient of a cut in half kitchen towel to make a toilet roll. The sharing pasta was actually a real thing, I gave mine to a friend that couldn't get any to feed her 2 year old.
The good news is, that everyone isn't a bunch of tossers (just a small minority stand out).
Swap shop & Fruit Salad's. :lolol:

I bet I'm of a similar age, and as a child, it was exciting. Not so much for our folks, but there was a spirit of 'togetherness'.

I was in Asda Hollingbury recently and I have to confess to being in a bit of a bad mood and I was moaning to Mrs Shingle about the general yobbery out in the car park and inside the store. When we came out of the checkout area there were 2 or 3 trolleys full up and overflowing with tinned stuff, dried pastas etc and nobody was requesting donations, there was just a sign saying food bank. Hollingbury/Carden is one of Brightons poorer areas, yet so many of the shoppers had contributed to this food bank without being asked. It was most humbling to see it.
Just to put it in perspective, Tesco in Affluent Lewes has the same thing but the trolleys are never full.

A simple thread, hearkening back to 'better times', and it causes vitriol and trolling - astonishing.
I can't see any of that because I have certain pathetic weasels on ignore.

There is much to be glad to be alive about. Hope and perseverance are two.

We used to go into the office wearing 3 jumpers and a warm jacket, and spend the afternoon working under candlelight. Team spirit, Grommit, I almost miss it.

I went to see my former PhD supervisor last week. Stayed at his place in Vancouver. He talked non stop. It was emotional. Do whatever your nearest need. That's all, really.
