Bit disappointing for the poster that Kevo had forgotten

And as he may recall, my dad spent his working life mending teleprinters for the GPO. Finding a cushty job seems to run in the family. I learned from my mum that the old man used to drive his van to a different lovely pub in Sussex each day for a pub lunch. Now I'm 'working from home'. Funny and small old world :lolol:

And best watched from outside a TV rental shop (remember them?) on a cold, dark Saturday evening.

I remember, when I was poor, parking my car outside a TV rental shop in Whitstable in the pouring rain one Sunday and watching live PL football through the window.

As for the rest, I'm with Hampster Gull

Pretty sure my father in law made teleprinters at Creeds where Asda is now at Hollingbury.

At the end of my tether
I still use Ceefax, or Text as they call it now..I press “ Text” on the Sky remote and it brings it up. It was due to close but got a reprieve.
I check the news .. on Saturday I sometimes watch the results coming in as the games draw to a close ... Call me old fashioned if you like.

I preferred Ceefax for getting the scores! Usually 3 pages per division, 4 if there were lots of goals. Waiting for your page to refresh, ooh, the anticipation!

Remember watching Grandstand in 1972, when we were away at Shrewsbury. We were drawing 0-0 at HT and so when the Tele/Vidiprinter starting clattering away I was hoping for....Shrewsbury 0.....then it appeared.....Shrewsbury 3 !!!!.......A loud expletive hit the air and my head drooped momentarily......as I looked up, the printer had just finished....Brighton 5 .......cue, a massive whoop of delight. The biggest surprise I ever experienced on the Tele/Vidiprinter.
