Was closed now there is work being done in it. I can't see it re-opening as a pub as nobody was ever in there, shame really as they have a really good sized beer garden.
Great beer garden and friendly landlord. But as you say, noone was ever in there, even the allure of Zebra steaks and croc meat on their bbq menu did not save it. I think at one point they even resorted to showing children's films in there on Saturday mornings to try and grab some custom. Just no foot traffic going past there, no passing trade.
If you paid attention in Mrs Tran's classes, which I'm sure you did really, you'd remember that née is the past participle conjugation from the French verb naître - to be born.
That was practically me and my flatmates' lounge for a while. Nice bloke running it and a succession of cool barmen, but the only surprise was how long it kept in business for. Always giving out mixers and cocktails and ants running freely through the taps and drip-offs. Garden was a laugh, food menu was always too ambitious, particularly with the Round Georges and Hanover two minutes either side of it.
It was my local when it was The Cuthbert from back when John Pendry had it, but I only ever went in once as Hemmingways. In fact I now walk past it to get to The Round Georges. Shame really, as it is a bloody lot closer to my gaff.
