Does anyone know if there are any hunts planning to defy the ban this saturday?

Supposedly the number of attacks on hunt sabatouers has risen since the ban was announced.

Bound to kick off somewhere.

Yes. Just about all of them.

If you go on the countryside alliance website there is a click map that shows you the meets.

The Hampshire Hunt is meeting at Preston Candover, I will be in Wigan but Small Child x 2 will be in Preston Candover.

I just hope the Police are prepared to deal with those who break the law. Either that, or we'll all have to start deciding which laws we fancy sticking to and which not.

As far as I know, I don't know anybody called Hunt. But if I did, I'm sure they would be going out on Saturday. :jester:

I hope they shoot them off their horses. That'll sort them out.

So we are allowed to shot people hunting animals, but not those hunting killing people?

Might make some interesting news stories.

You didn't I must admit. I also tend to agree with you. However I think that the goverment have made a rod for their own back with this hunting ban.

They should have brought it in in steps. Every 3 months or so, banning a different part. That way you do not suddenly have thousands of people who want to test the law. The police have very few options.

What they should do is pick one hunt, and then arresst all the people on it. Then keep doing that until people stop in fear that they might be next.

What they will do however is make a complete mess of it.

I'm not 'in favor' of hunting but ..........

Hopefully the stupid, ill-thought-out piece of legislation will prove to be unworkable and get repealed before too much damage is done to people and property.

Just editing as WardyWonderland put it better. It's a crap law bought in to pander to the popular vote as a sop for not giving way on Iraq. You have all been conned.

Its not pandering to the popular vote most people dont care. Its appeasing the labour back benches.

The hunting folk are clever and recourcefull, they will be running rings round the anti's untill a tory government gets in and lifts the ban.

Bearing in mind most of the hunting folk are toff's who have generally been subjected to generations of inbreeding, clever is not a word I would associate with them. The only way they could be described as resourceful is due to their wealth. They still think they are the landed gentry and can do what they want. Well the law now says otherwise, so tough luck to them.

You obviously haven't met my annoying, tedious, penniless but actively pro-hunting step sister. She's as thick as pig shit.

At what point does the hunt actually break the law? Presumably not until it catches a fox, and the police will be well behind by then.

Agree totally, however, if the police do turn up at hunts (one of the Assistant Chief Constables of Sussex Police has said they will act if they receive complaints), they will then be faced with hordes of uppity toffs and pages in the Daily Mail devoted to the fact that the police "should be out there catching real criminals" instead of crushing posh people's right to kill things.

Think this is a no win situation, much as I find the attitude of the hunters distasteful.
