I used to do a paper round delivering to houses right on top of the North downs, sometimes in the summer when I was doing my round a bit later, 2 or 3 twin rotered military helicopters would fly about 100 feet above, you could make out the pilots white helmets and other details, probably one of the most vivid memories of my youth.
