Thatcher will be cheering from her grave, her goal always being to get the ‘Woking Classes’ bashing the ‘Under Classes’
Definitely, some on here are sounding far more Reece-Moggian than is healthy.

And the vast tracts of Amazon rain forest destroyed to supply soy-based feed for the beef cattle that McDonald‘s use in it’s burgers allegedly.

i noticed the article didnt even alledge McDonalds use Amazonian beef in UK burgers. it's seeded the inference for the reader to make, then made more specific claims about source of beef in canned, catering and commercial products.

Oh well do I know that! As an old time Labour voter, I fully realise I'm nowhere near left enough to be part of the NSC elite! :lolol:

Fair point. I think it's also fair to say that some McDs are less frequently infected by utter chavs than others!
I’m usually a labour voter too 🤣🤦🏻‍♂️

Although saying that I think they’re all lying shitheads 🙌

Steady now, you’ll have NSC’s very own Director of Stalking/Internet Searching, fact checking your above statement….
Which one would that be? I have a whole NSC team of fact checkers stalking me, dying to prove me wrong on everything I type 😂

McDonald’s is ultra processed food.

Ultra processed food is bad shit.
Most of us know that, but having a McDonald's or US once every few months probably isn't worth worrying about. Every Friday here is home cooked 'junk food' but for the other 6 days, every dinner is made from scratch. The 'quality' of the food made can be somewhat hit and miss but it's healthy, even if it tastes like shite! :lolol:

Not sure you can say dying in this context. Who is to say they are dying? You are factually incorrect here.

Er I didn’t say that it did - please don’t jump to conclusions here - I said the ‘vast tracks of land destroyed to supply soy’ to feed the beef cattle. It is mainly British Beef that McDonalds use afaik. It is all about the chain of accountability in mass food production where there are several companies between the end product and the root sources that are required. A company can not claim to be selling sustainable and responsibly sourced products unless every part of the supply chain is sustainable and responsibly sourced.

Did you read the Independent article? Cargill is one of McDonald’s suppliers for soy feed - soy feed that Cargill have been alleged to have bought from farmers illegally clearing forest land to grow the crop.

“In a report in February, campaign group Mighty Earth revealed how land was being cleared to make way for soy plantations in the Brazilian Cerrado and Bolivian Amazon. Now, in a follow-up report, they said “large industrial farms” were still selling to major global food companies that supply household names like McDonald’s, Burger King, Dunkin’ Donuts, Kellogg’s and Kraft Heinz.”

and?

I work in the food industry making bespoke products - you better not look in your cupboards.

All that tells us is don't eat McDonald's every day and we knew that anyway.

My cupboards are fine, Stat. If you want to pretend McDonald's is fine that's up to you.

Health and ethical issues aside, I'm not interested as it doesn't taste good.

Oh lordy no.
That said McDonald's is fine, sure it's absolutely no better than fine, fine in moderation, is an almost perfect description.

What it isn't though, is the spawn of satan and those that eat there don't deserve to die.

Politics is the art of the possible.

1. You have a world view and a vision of what the UK should be, and want to make a difference. You stand for parliament.
2. With your party, in committee, you make some policies to reflect that
3. You do some focus group stuff to check this will receive votes
4. f***'s sake. The Electorate want the moon on a stick. Better schools and hospitals, lower taxes. f***'s sake!
5. Redraft, somewhere between your vision and the greed of the venal electorate
6. Try to sell it even though you have major reservations about some of it. OK a lot of it. I love the hustings
7. You get elected. Hooray!
8. Now you have to find a path between what got you elected (what the voters think you manifesto is) and what your backbenchers think.
9. Voters not happy, back benchers no happy.
10. Crack on to the next election.

And, as I always say, we get the governments we deserve.

Glad you are a labour man, even if you have to hold your nose from time to time.
It is unavoidable
