Anyone fancy a game of Mornington Crescent?

I thought the Duke of Norfolk 1869 variation banned the use of stations with a sporting connotation on the last Friday before Valentines day??? Or was that revoked in the St Thomas massacre in 1937?

Anyway if Stockwell has been played it gives little room for manoeuvre..... Elephant and Castle.... although I fear that could be open to a challenge.

Low and dirty, wasn't it?

But under the Wet Thursday Indicative, Bakerloo crossovers are allowed provided it crosses over to Friday AND it's raining AND it's February. Personally, I think he'd been saving that one up.

Still, not as low and dirty as... STOCKWELL.

Eat that.

I always struggle with the weather/calander indicatives in this, its something I really need to work on. I've not had a win since I fluked that Finchley Road one about a year ago, and that was only because I bounced off Mosh Geriani as he intersected me at Tufnell Park, fortunately for me the whole thing was over within about an hour before the weather varients even kicked in. This one looks like it could run and run though.

Anyway.

Stockwell eh. The gloves have clearly come off. With you doing that AFTER both Pinner and Leyton have already been played, that leaves me with a conundrum (which no doubt you fully intended). Do I double-back to Old Street and miss a turn, but in doing so avoid the need to trek to bloody Upminster to reinstate my Pimlico caveat pass ? Or do I put my head above the parapet and go for the overground at Liverpool Street, risking a Hammersmith & City triple-deck platform suspension for every weekday afternoon between now and the end of the month ? Tell you what, its neither. Because I'm sly, and I'm going for...

Over the years, a number of extremely accomplished players have developed on here. I really think we could hold our own against pretty much anyone, although we would have to be a bit wary of the San Fransisco Transit system Nob Hill gambit.

Anyway, Easy has really thrown the cat among the pigeons, as it were, and because of that, I intend to introduce the 'Zone 7 manoeuvre' and give you

Hmm, I see we have a cracking game in progress here.

Allow me to join the fun with a nice tricky reverse jump to Plaistow

Well if we're going to allow zone 7 manoeuvres is there any reason why i shouldn't double fork?

In which case...

West Harrow.

Tut tut, double forking on a Friday...not sure that's within the spirit of the game myself.

In any case, a quick hop to Stanmore should sort that one out.

Aaarg... forking hell! Stanmore, eh?

Have I missed something? There seems to be a rather obvious Trumpington Variation available here...

Oops, I did rather leave myself open to that Trumpington Variation, didn't I?

Let's see if I can redeem myself with a reverse triple shunt to Chalk Farm

What a finish, Frutos and Titanic both neglecting to notice the inevitable ramifications of a Trumpington variation following a double forked reverse triple shunt with a Barking invocation.

Bravo.

Chalk Farm? Oh dear...

Murray coming steaming in at the back post, Barnes waiting for the knock-down - even he can't miss. He hasn't...

MORNINGTON CRESCENT

What can I say.

I let my guard down and have been duly punished for it. Well played TLO.

For fucks sake, I didn't think we had AMATEURS playing on this thread? Were you the type of kid who wanted to play draughts when the chess board came out? :nono:

Dammit. I had a cunning little cut through via Barbican planned which would have put me in with a shout at least, but thats a tremendous utilisation of a Trumpington by TLO, it quite literally could not have been timed any better. Once again I arrive at the party just as the coats are being fetched from the spare room and the glasses are being gathered.

:(

Well played sir.

I saw some fans sneaking out after the early exchanges, I bet they are kicking themselves now (like those Newcastle fans last week). It's turned into a STORMING match and I have even heard some pundits using the phrase "best ever", I'm not sure I agree to that extent (the great double comeback of '97 anyone?!) but I would certainly put it in the top 10.
