New York is shit, It's just like London.

If you want to take your mum somewhere take here to Cambodia, Ankor wat, Killing fields, Pol Pot, S21, Now that is history and will open her eyes to what really goes on in the big bad world.

No fool. Its the likes off you who haven't been anywhere in the world, You should wake up and smell the coffee retard.

New york is for people who are to scared to venture out into the unknown.

i dont mean to sound rude but thats a really stupid comment. just because someone likes the sheer enormity and bustle of a place like new york it doesnt mean they are 'too scared' to venture to the unknown. i love nyc and ive been to the 'unknown'.

One of my best friend has spent the last three months in cambodia (have you been by the way?) and he LOVES new york.

Wasn't asking you. Was asking him. Yes I've Been to Cambodia for 6 months. Travelled from Poipet down to Siem Reap where ankor wot is, stay for a few weeks then headed down towards Phnom Penh, Killing fields, then the army range, AK47 asault rifles, M15 asault rifles, hand granades. then onto Vietnam. Then back to Cambodia. Spemt in total 9 months in those two countrys.

well i do apologise. i wasnt answering a question, i was merely disagreeing with your general point.

Fair point mate.

Britbyte, fancy wishing cancer on mums and kids. You like to give abuse but you can't handle it can you.

PM me and I'll give you my phone number and we'll take it from there. I wont mention this matter again on NSC as it isn't the right place and the right time.

Gouranga :smokin: for fellow ALBION FANS!

I went to New York in 97 a short shopping break of four days and I loved it and wish I stayed longer. I hope to go back one day. The highlight for me was flying in to Newark airport at night amazing to see the city lit up!!! So if you go make sure you land at night it is surperb.

I really have no time for America at present.

I went to Florida about 12 years ago but not high on my priority list of places to travel.

Plenty of places in Europe I'd like to see first.

I lived in New York for about 3 and a half years before I came to London. In its own way one of the best cities ever....both sad and glad to leave there...

Personal Favourites...

The Temple of Dendur in The Met Museum on Fifth Avenue half way up the park....the temple sits in a glass sided room that looks out into the park - in winter when its snowing its stunning...

The Cupping Room restaurant on West Broadway - they do 24hr breakfast - New York style - loud, good coffee, but messy yet loads of fun for a group for Sunday breakfast...

Zabars Market - once you get over the smell of the cheese
 its a fantastic food market - anything from anywhere - even if you're not buying anything, if you're a foodie like me - its amazing - upstairs they sell the cheapest kitchen goods anywhere... and then if you walk south the 66th and Broadway you can visit Barnes and Noble - the biggest book store in the city...

If you want to see a movie - the Ziegfield is the best place - mid town and a fantastic old theatre in the old style...they show new realeases and every now and then show and old silver screen classic - they are great nights...

For a nice dinner - a tad pricey - catch a cab to the Lennox Room (72nd and Third) its very intimate and they do an amazing steak - not as good as Smith and Wollenskys - but its without the wankers in suits and the extortionate expense account only prices...same as Maloney and Porcellis on E 50th Street - fun for a high powered boozey lunch but little else...

For Jazz - try the Blue Note or the Knitting Factory - both outstanding and you can turn up usually without a booking on early weeknights....

Ride the subway as much as you can - its cheap and fantastic - if you're female not by yourself after 10 at night - but thats the same for any city...Express means it doesn't stop all stops - local means it stops every stop...

Walk the Brooklyn Bridge - you can see the Statue of Liberty from halfway over and she's tiny - but beautiful.... Walk the reservoir in central park - the view back down south of the city is breathtaking....I used to jog that track every few days...

Do the express Circle Line Boat tour - the full one gets a bit long but they do a short one now which leaves from the same place on the Hudson river side somewhere next to the Independance I think...

Can think of so much more but not sure what you like - so let me know if you have any other specific interests and I'll try and remember things...
