Anyone ever had cortisone injections?

Had four in my facet joints in the spine last week ( single worst pain I have ever felt - no sedation!!!)

Anyway, it is now 4 days since and I cant honestly say I have felt any change in my back at all.

Is this normal? Should I expect some sort of change within the first week?

Thanks!

had them in my left knee, bloody painful, i noticed the results quite quickly however when they wear off it can be a bit of a shock as the pain can be worse than before because you have been using the damaged area as if it was healed.

hurts at first and in your back can take three or four days to oprtimise the effects

worth it (as you will discover when it wears off!)

I concur. Had them in the top of my back a few years ago, between the shoulder blades. Hurt like hell, but after a few days that wore off and it did it's stuff.

Have had them a couple of times in my hip for bursitis. As others have said, gets worse for a few days, then better. I think it also depends how good the needleman is, at our GP there is only one doc who does it now.

Had them in my arthritic (and now jointless!) thumb. The first time it was fine and certainly the effects lasted for a few weeks afterwards but I can honestly say that the second injections were atrociously painful - not so much at the time of the injection but an hour or so later. Given a choice I might well opt for acute appendicitis over another set of cortisone injections. If I had an appendix, that is.

Right here, right now
I had one in my thumb and was in agony for a couple of days immediately afterwards. However, it then eased off and was pain free for a good six months before the previous pain started again. I haven't gone back for another injection yet but I know I will have to eventually!

Okay.... medical advice required on North Stand Chat.... I'm up for that;

Ms weatherwax - take 2 aspirin, then lay on something where you are able to fix your feet, but pull up with your arms. Sleep on the floor tonight.

That will be £150 please.

hilarious.

was that you or zoo-b-zoo talking?

A thread about Botox rather than cortizone would be more appropriate given the amount of Man-tarts that post on NSC.
