Oh! I've just worked it out. I hadn't considered it as it had already been a solution.

If I were to change my starter word, I might go for SHARE. Most common first, third and final letters. The H and R are safe bets too. It's never been the solution so bound to come up one day.

Also, an easy 2 or 3 if SHADE or SHAPE is the answer.

Go for that and thank me when you get the hole in one

Duh, you're right. I made the same mistake. Finally got there.....that starter has been an answer, too!

I may be being particularly dense but I can see another word he could have used as a starter that fits as required. Instead of the letter you suggested Bakero, what about the one six letters away alphabetically?
